One year ago, Ichiko Hanamaki's older brother vanished without a trace in a small town known as Okunezato.

The town is shaped like a crescent moon and is known for its many legends and folklore, attracting the attention of curious youngsters.

During summer vacation one day, Ichiko is approached by her childhood friend, Hino Kagutsuchi and invited to visit Okunezato as part of the Okunezato Supernatural Club in order to search for her brother.

Upon arrival, they check into the Fuurinkan Hotel, where they meet a number of other guests, along with the hotel staff.

It soon becomes clear, however, that Okunezato is hiding a dark secret, and Ichiko may be in danger from both the secret itself and those who want to keep it hidden.

Originally released by Otomate and Toybox Inc. for the PlayStation Vita in 2016, 7'scarlet received a Western release in 2018 by Aksys Games. It was also released in English, Korean and Japanese through Steam by Intragames.

Tropes in this work are (beware of spoilers):

  • Accidental Murder: Yua's only intention was to keep Sousuke's father from pursuing his suspicions regarding Toa. She didn't mean to kill him when she pushed him.
  • Adorably Precocious Child: Yuki generally is as mature as he acts, but even he gets flustered when people ruffle his hair.
  • Albinos Are Freaks: Ichiko is revealed to be an albino, justifying her paleness and weird eye color, and is considered a bad omen by the town. She's not a traditional albino, but that's what the game refers to her as.
  • Camera Fiend: Kagura Tsukuyomi is a photographer staying at the inn. He has an interest in photographing cute girls, particularly Ichiko.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: If Ichiko pursues Hino. Or Isora or Toa.
  • Dead All Along: Toa turns out to be a revenant, like Kagura and Hanate
  • Disappeared Dad: Isora's father died when he was a young child. Sousuke is estranged from his and he dies in every route besides Hanate's.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Ichiko has an aversion to strawberries, though she doesn't understand why. Isora's route reveals that he'd accidentally given her a tart that he'd made with rotten strawberries that made her sick.
  • Dude Magnet: Despite being supposedly plain, Ichiko is the object of affection of most of the men she crossed paths with. Justified in the case of revenants, as she's an albino and could grant them eternal life.
  • Eating the Eye Candy: Though it doesn't always involve nudity of some sort, Ichiko definitely shows some appreciation for the male form at times.
  • Forgotten First Meeting: Ichiko later learns that she met all of her possible love interests in Okunezato twelve years earlier, but forgot about them. Hanate's route reveals that this happened because his memory modification of her to make her think he was her brother had the side effect of erasing her memories of her time in Okunezato.
  • Half-Identical Twins: Averted. Toa and Yua are explicitly fraternal twins and do not bear much resemblance to each other.
  • Idol Singer: An artist known as A-TO of the band AUK-ZERO plans to make his solo debut at a concert in Okunezato. He's actually Toa.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: Toa is very fond of cats. Ichiko even gets points with him by saying she's a cat person.
  • The Medic: Sousuke often ends up playing this role, given that he's a medical student.
  • Not Blood Siblings: Ichiko can pursue Hanate as a love interest in the secret route because they aren't related. He brainwashed her family into believing he was her older brother.
  • Rescue Romance: Ichiko's romance with Yuzuki kicks into gear when he comes to rescue her after she's kidnapped by Karasuma.
  • Unfinished Business: This is the reason why revenants end up coming back to life.
  • Yandere: In his route, Isora kidnaps Ichiko and keeps her under lockdown to keep her "safe" from the murderer. Surprisingly, when the rest of the cast finds out, they don't really seem to mind.
