The Fall of Gondolin is a Minecraft map based on The Lord of the Rings, set during one of the stories in The Silmarillion. The protagonist is Elcarien, an elf from the elven capital of Gondolin, returning from a scouting mission to learn the plans of Dark Lord Morgoth. This map contains examples of:
- Fantastic Racism: Maeglin greatly disapproves of Idril marrying a human.
- Scenery Porn: There are some truly amazing vistas in this map.
- Shown Their Work: The map is very well researched, and loaded with references that someone not familiar with Middle-Earth lore would miss. Given that the map was made by the people responsible for the Minecraft Middle-Earth project, you'd expect they'd know their stuff.
- Underground Level: The caves at the beginning, as well as the mine.
- The War Sequence: The city comes under siege, requiring you to fend of vast armies of monsters.
- Zerg Rush: During the siege, Gondolin is absolutely overflowing with monster spawnees.
