Tropes I want to TRS/wick check at some point
- Our Slashers Are Different (it gets used in weird ways that make me think no-one’s quite sure what it’s supposed to be)
- British Brevity (people just use it for any short show, not just British ones)
- Wrestling Doesn't Pay (meant to be wrestlers with job-themed gimmicks, misused as wrestling being a low-pay job)
- Scary Scarecrows (I don’t understand why the non-scary scarecrows section is there)
- Backstory Horror
- Surprise Santa Encounter (just “Santa is in an anime”, I don’t understand)
- Elves Versus Dwarves (has two related but distinct definitions, I want to see if they could be split)
- Kindness Button (meant to be a certain thing making a character nice whenever it happens, gets used as Took a Level in Kindness)
- Even the Guys Want Him (meant to be a straight guy being attracted to another guy to show that he’s especially attractive, misused as any gay attraction)
- Disney Owns This Trope (meant to be things you wouldn’t expect to be copyrighted being copyrighted, misused as Disney owning things)
- Nice Guy (very broad concept that gets even broader use, there’s something good in here but we’ll have to work to find it)
- Driven to Suicide (just “character commits suicide”, might have been originally intended as “events of plot drive a character to suicide”?)
- Limey Goes to Hollywood (too common in Real Life, make it IUEO)
- Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl (I want to see how many reverse gender examples there are, I also think it’s attracting a lot of shipper stuff)
- Obligatory Bondage Song (I don’t think the idea that bondage is a popular song topic for alternative musicians holds water, change it to just Bondage Song)
- The various Our Monsters Are Different tropes (often used as “this monster appears” and not “this monster is portrayed uniquely to how it’s usually played”)
- Strangled by the Red String (meant to be “romance that suddenly starts out of nowhere” but the name doesn’t get that across at all)
- Seasonal Baggage (made up of two mostly-unrelated concepts, split them)
- Suicide Is Painless (name doesn’t describe concept very well)
- Strawberry Shorthand (possibly being used for all strawberry appearances, could potentially be split between cute strawberries and sexy strawberries)
- Affectionate Parody (I see ZCEs and it being used for any parody a lot)
- Headphones Equal Isolation (two distinct concepts in one trope, split)
- Big Secret (very vague name, hugely common trope with low wick count)
- Perfect Poison (two concepts at play: a “perfect poison” that’s perfect for murdering someone and getting away with it, and poisonings being portrayed differently to how they work IRL)
