  • Acting for Two: Both Cy-5 and Maximus are portrayed by Todd Burquist.
  • The Danza: Tak, the Living Statue, is portrayed by one Tak Ohseki.
  • Follow the Leader: The game shares a lot of cues with Mortal Kombat 3, sharing an identical control scheme and dashing dial-a-combo 10-hit strings (and fatalities, of course). The game was also created so that Midway had a presence in 3D fighting games as the subgenre was gaining traction.
  • God Never Said That: A lot of fans had assumed, based on how War Gods is a 3D fighting game published by Midway, that it was a test game for Mortal Kombat 4 and its new Zeus hardware. Almost two decades after the game's release, Ed Boon, the co-creator of Mortal Kombat, asserted that this wasn't the case, which was confirmed by George Petro, the game's co-project lead, in a correspondence with Matt McMuscles for the latter's Worst Fighting Game webseries. Petro and several other programmers asked Midway for the opportunity to make a 3D fighting game as Midway Chicago was still in the midst of developing the 2D Mortal Kombat 3, and were granted said request. The game also didn't use the hardware that would eventually power Mortal Kombat 4, but rather the engine used for Cruis'n USA to keep the budget down.
