Trivia / Snow Day

Go To

  • Billing Displacement: During the end titles, Iggy Pop is billed above a majority of the rest of the movie's central cast, despite really only having one glorified scene.
  • Blooper: During the dinner scene, when the Mom leaves, Randy faces his family and says "That phone call. Must've been. Important?" in a way that sounds like his actor is struggling to remember his linesnote .
  • Breakaway Pop Hit: While both have largely faded into obscurity, "Another Dumb Blonde" by Hoku has always been significantly more popular than the film who's soundtrack it appeared on.
  • The Cast Showoff: Schuyler Fisk (Lane) sings one of her original songs during the end titles.
  • Creator Backlash: Chevy Chase, Iggy Pop, and co-writer Will McRobb are not fond of this movie.
    • Chevy Chase complained about working conditions, saying the set was way too cold for him, while "promoting" the movie on The Rosie O Donnell Show. Bill Smith, the mayor of Edmonton, where it filmed, at the time, ended up having to send a letter telling Rosie that it was actually about 1° Celsius (34° Fahrenheit) or higher every day during filming and they had to use fake snow for the shoot.
    • Iggy Pop said that shooting a scene of this movie where he had to stick his hand in the toilet made him quit acting for a few years.
    • Will McRobb said, in the book Slimed: An Oral History of Nick's Golden Age, that many of the quirky moments that made the movie more Pete & Pete-esque were cut and he felt that, if they had stayed in, he would have been more proud of the final cut.
  • Dawson Casting: Emmanuelle Chriqui, who plays the high school character Claire Bonner, was 21 at the time of filming.
  • Denial of Digital Distribution: Once designated as an Paramount+ original, the movie was suddenly deleted from the service in June 2023.
  • Divorced Installment: It was originally developed as a film based on The Adventures of Pete & Pete, but was later reworked to be a standalone film.
  • Never Trust a Trailer: Several TV spots state that Snow Plow Man and Pricipal Weaver want to end the snow day, but only the former actively tries to.
  • What Could Have Been: The film was actually intended to be The Adventures of Pete & Pete The Movie, but it was shelved for a few years and by the time work got back on it, the show had ended and the actors who played the Pete brothers were too old for their characters.
    • Building off that, it's clear Natalie's plot against Snowplowman was intended for Little Pete. That also likely means Hal's plot in which he's pursuing Claire and then realizing Lane has feeling for him was likely intended as a romantic resolution for Big Pete and Ellen as well—right down to the first person narration. Basically, it's definitely framed that the Brandstons were intended to be stand-ins for the Wrigleys—with at least Tom's plot definitely being meant for Dad/Don.
    • Considering Principal Kent Weaver is very likely an Expy of Principal Ken Schwinger from the show—that means his plot still could've totally involved desperately trying to escape the kids throwing snowballs at him—but it would've been Adam West of all people experiencing the torture instead!
