Trivia / Shanghai Noon

Go To

  • Actor Allusion:
  • Deleted Scene: Noon has several deleted scenes.
  • Development Hell: The third movie, Shanghai Dawn, was confirmed in pre-production in the early '00s but fell out of the news soon after. Jackie Chan still says 'It's in the talks', however. There was a burst of activity in in 2016, but nothing came of it.
  • Dueling Movies:
    • The film's premise is largely recycled from Rush Hour.
    • Sammo Hung once heard Jackie Chan discuss the 'film he'd want to make someday' (A western/kung fu movie), and (thinking it was just Jackie's daydream, and not an actual plan) went ahead and made Once Upon A Time In China And America. They make an interesting contrast.
  • Orphaned Reference: Originally, there was a whole sequence where Chon Wang's fellow Chinese guards are discovered by a conman named Bulldog Drummond, played by Curtis Armstrong, who tries to showcase them to audiences. When they realize what's happening, he gets beaten and they take his wagon, which is what they used to travel to the church. Drummond is subsequently mugged by Wallace and the gang, who reveals where the guards are going, which explains how they show up there in the end.
  • Star-Making Role: This was Owen Wilson's first lead role in a major film after string of indie films and supporting roles.
