  • Acclaimed Flop: Despite universal acclaim from critics and the few audience members that saw it, viewership was extremely low to the point AMC wrote off the show after its first season, despite a two season order.
  • All-Star Cast: It boasts the likes of Paul Dano, Daniel Dae Kim, Chris Diamantopoulos, and Ron Livingston. Notably, a posthumous role of William Hurt.
  • The Character Died with Him: Stephen Holstrom has been dead for 18 years before the series' start with no UI version of himself to take over, and his voice actor, William Hurt, died on March 13th, 2022 from prostate cancer.
  • The Danza: Somewhat. David Kim is voiced by Daniel Dae Kim, which is tied to the Adaptation Name Change the "Wynn" family has gone through.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: AMC pulled season 1 off of their legal streaming sources in the US, which includes AMC+, Hi Dive, and Prime Video, likely due to the series cancellation, before they gave it any physical release. Subverted when Prime picked the series back up.
  • In Memoriam: In the episode "Reign of Winter" was dedicated to William Hurt who voices Stephen Holstrom who also died with no UI version of himself.
  • Network to the Rescue: After the show was cancelled before the second season could even be released, it was suddenly picked up by Prime Video in September 2023 to air in New Zealand and Australia the next month, with the completed second season to finally premiere as well.
  • Screwed by the Network: On January 8, 2023, Deadline confirmed the series was among a few AMC+ originals suddenly cancelled and written off for taxes, long after its first season aired. This is is despite the series having a planned two-season run, with its second season confirmed to be completed by news outlets and background designer Carolina Chiou.
  • What Could Have Been: The initial August 2018 press release dubbed the series "a primetime drama", implying it was originally going to air on the AMC cable network. The series' pilot predated the existence of its finalized home, AMC+, by two years.
