Trivia / Ice Age: Continental Drift

Go To

  • Completely Different Title: The film is known as Ice Age 4: The Pirates' Big Adventure in Japan.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Raz is voiced by a male in the Brazilian, Korean and Ukrainian dubs.
  • Irony as She Is Cast: Peter Dinklage, an actor who has a form of dwarfism, plays a Gigantopithecus, the largest known primate to have inhabited Earth.
  • Milestone Celebration: Continental Drift was released 10 years after the first film.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Keke Palmer takes over Ciara Bravo as Peaches in this film onward.
    • In the Japanese dub, Unshō Ishizuka voices Diego instead of Naoto Takenaka.
  • Pop-Culture Urban Legends: Rumor has it that the original plan for the fourth movie was to have it take place in modern times with Manny, Sid, Diego, and Ellie being defrosted in a museum. It would've apparently been called "Ice Age: TH4W". So far, no evidence has emerged to substantiate this claim.
  • Real-Life Relative:
    • Ray Romano's eldest daughter Ally voices Meghan one of the snobby teen girl mammoths, following suit of her younger brothers Matt and Greg (since at least one of Ray's kids have voiced a minor role in almost every sequel).
    • John Leguizamo's kids Lucas and Allegra also provide additional voices (Like Ray, at least one of John's kids have voiced minor roles in the sequels).
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Gutt was originally conceived as a tiny rabbit (which would later be transplanted to Squint). He was also originally considered to be a bear (probably a cave bear) but the film’s character designer Peter DeSeve had trouble designing a bear villain and he requested for him to be a primate since he thought primates were more versatile.
    • There are storyboards leaked online that show Peaches leaning in to kiss Louis after saving her life. Both of them struggle to kiss each other due to Peaches’ trunk and Louis’ small size, but Manny interrupts their moment before they could actually kiss.
    • Jeremy Renner was originally cast as Gutt. He presumably exited the role due to scheduling conflicts with The Avengers (2012).
  • You Sound Familiar: Diego's Japanese voice actor Unshō Ishizuka previously dubbed the Lone Gunslinger in Ice Age: The Meltdown.
