A post-apocalyptic vampire film.

The Brides of Sodom is a 2013 American horror film.

After a nuclear war, vampires have become the dominant force on Earth, and humans are but cattle. Eros spends his days hunting for the last free humans, answering to his master Lord Dionysus and spending time with his sister-love Persephone. However, that all changes when he falls for a human named Samuel and decides to try and save him. As Dionysus tries to take Samuel for himself, Persephone is consumed by jealousy, and the parties are destined to clash in a way that could shatter the entire clan.

This film contains examples of:

  • After the End: The world was destroyed in a nuclear war, and then vampires took over with the nuclear winter blocking out the sun.
  • Ambiguously Human: It's unclear what exactly Dominic is. He hangs out with the vampires, but is never shown drinking blood. He never speaks an audible word, but can see the spirits of the dead. Whatever he is, he's connected to the witches, since he betrays Dionysus for them and after their queen is summoned descends into the pit she came from.
  • Ape Shall Never Kill Ape: Vampires are forbidden to kill each other on pain of death.
  • Big Bad: Lord Dionysus, leader of the gang of post-apocalyptic vampires.
  • Brother–Sister Incest: Eros and Persephone are siblings who have a sexual and romantic relationship.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: When Persephone finds out that Eros is in love with Samuel, she lets off steam by raping and murdering a human woman.
  • Crapsack World: After the nuclear war, the sun hasn't shone in ten years. Vampires rule the eternal night, and treat humans as cattle. The humans who aren't held as livestock spend their lives desperately scavenging for resources and being hunted down by the undead.
  • Decoy Protagonist: The witches kill Eros an hour into the film, leaving the third act to focus on Persephone and Samuel.
  • Depraved Bisexual:
    • Persephone is a vampire in a sexual relationship with her brother Eros, and when he cheats on her she rapes and murders a captive human woman to let off some steam.
    • Lord Dionysus has a bunch of male sex slaves, tries to get Samuel to be one of his, and demands sexual services from Persephone in exchange for authorizing a witch coven's assistance.
    • Subverted with Eros, who hunts humans for their blood and is banging his sister, but his attraction to the male human Samuel is what sets him on the path to redemption.
  • The Dividual: The witches always stand next to each other, wear the same outfit and hairstyle, and only speak in unison.
  • Everyone Is Bi: Every character who expresses any interest in sex at all has sex with both men and women over the course of the film.
  • The Exile: After Dionysus frames Persephone for Eros' murder, he orders her cast out from the clan on pain of death.
  • Faceless Goons: All of Dionysus' slaves wear black hoods over their faces.
  • Frame-Up: Dionysus orders the witches to kill Eros after summoning them with a note delivered by Persephone, all so the clan will think she had him killed in a jealous rage.
  • Heel–Face Turn:
    • Eros quits being a hunter after falling in love with Samuel.
    • Persephone turns agains Dionysus after she's framed for killing Eros, which she never wanted.
  • The Hero Dies: Eros is killed by the witches' curse. Later, Samuel is obliterated by the Witch Queen.
  • Hunting the Most Dangerous Game: Despite humans being treated as livestock by the vampires, Eros likes to lead hunting squads to capture and feed on wasteland stragglers.
  • Kick the Dog:
    • Persephone raping and murdering a human woman to satiate her jealousy.
    • Dionysus raping Samuel and threatening to break him in half if he ever resists his advances again.
  • Loophole Abuse: Dionysus gets Persephone to bring Eros and Samuel back by promising to kill the latter. When they do return he refuses on the grounds that he only said he'd kill "Eros' human," and Samuel's been turned by this point. His real motive is wanting Samuel for himself.
  • Love at First Sight: Eros falls for Samuel the second he meets him.
  • Love Redeems: Eros' love for Samuel drives him to resist the dystopian society he used to participate in. Of course, no longer being evil doesn't mean he loses the need for blood.
  • Murder the Hypotenuse: Persephone, in a jealous rage over Eros' relationship with Samuel, decides the latter has to die, eventually joining up with Dionysus to do it.
  • The Night That Never Ends: Nuclear winter has prevented the sun from shining for the last ten years.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: These look almost entirely human and cannot go out into the sun. They can turn humans both into one of them or into an undead thrall. They never age, have Super-Senses and are cold to the touch.
  • Sex Slave: Dionysus has a bunch of them.
  • Shout-Out: Dionysus calls vampirism a world of darkness.
  • The Sociopath: Lord Dionysus, a ruthless vampire flat admits he "collects people's weaknesses." He has no problem lying through his teeth, and only seems to care about his own society's laws when breaking them would be bad for him. He sees everybody as a possession, gaining leverage over people whenever he can and having a collection of sex slaves to satisfy his every desire.
  • Super Supremacist: Persephone describes vampires as "higher lifeforms" compared to humans.
  • Technicolor Death: Anybody killed by the Witch Queen explodes in orange light.
  • Theme Naming: All the vampires are named after Greek gods. Excluding Samuel, that is.
  • Together in Death: It's strongly implied that Persephone and Samuel will be reunited with Eros after the Witch Queen kills them.
  • Torture Cellar: The vampires have a torture dungeon where victims are chained to a wall and left to be tormented by the local Torture Technician.
  • Vampire Bites Suck: Vampires feeding is shown to be agonizing for their victims.
  • Vampire Vannabe: Samuel desperately wants to be turned and has for years. Eventually Eros turns him.
  • Vampire Monarch: Lord Dionysus has absolute power over his clan, raping and killing whoever he pleases and doing worse to all who oppose him.
  • Villain Protagonist: Eros starts as this, being a vampire who regularly goes out to hunt down the last remnants of humanity to devour. However, falling in love with Samuel leads him to oppose the toxic system he lives in. That said he does feed out of necessity.
  • Villain World: The film opens with the vampires already having taken over a decade prior.
  • The Voiceless: Dominic never says a word onscreen, but is shown inaudibly whispering in people's ears at times.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: None of the male vampires ever wear a shirt. Even Samuel quickly loses his shirt after getting turned.
  • The X of Y
