Trivia / Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

• Descended Creator: Story artist and producer Karen Disher voices Scratte, and director Carlos Saldanha voices the baby dinos.
• DVD Commentary: With director Carlos Saldanha, co-director Mike Thurmeier, producers John C. Donkin and Lori Forte, art director Michael Knapp, character designer Peter de Sève, and supervising animator Galen Tan Chu. This is the last audio commentary Blue Sky made for the DVD and Blu Ray releases.
• Enforced Method Acting: Ray Romano was having difficulty creating a laugh for Manny in "The Chasm of Death" scene where the characters shriek with laughter due to the gas; therefore, while they were recording in the studio, director Carlos Saldanha actually had to tickle Ray to make him laugh.
• The Other Darrin: In the Japanese dub, Ellie is voiced by Megumi Toyoguchi instead of Yūka.
• Science Marches On: The film's T. rex babies hatch out from eggs more than a yard long, and are roughly the size of Sid. Recent examinations of tyrannosaurid embryos suggest that actual Tyrannosaurus eggs were about 17 inches in length, and the hatchlings, roughly as big as a mid-sized dog^note That said, this example also straddles the line of plain old Artistic License – Paleontology, since even in 2009 it was known that reptile eggs as large as those in the film would violate the Square-Cube Law. ^note Of course technically this isn't actually a T. rex. It's a separate dinosaur with 65 million years of confined evolution from whatever it's ancient ancenstors were, so YMMV.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Buck was originally supposed to have been voiced by Harrison Ford, but he said no due to scheduling conflicts with the fourth Indiana Jones movie.
  • The Air Battle sequence had way more material as stated in the commentary, but they had to cut most of it out to have it fit in with pacing and runtime.
