Trivia / GRID Legends

Go To

  • Accent Depundent: One of the missions in story mode following Yume Tanaka is called "Yume Proceed" based on how, given the way her name is pronounced in English, it sounds like "You may proceed". This may be lost on those who know the pronunciation of Japanese names (or simply non-English speakers), as an actual Japanese would pronounce Yume as "you-meh".
  • The Danza:
    • Claire's co-commentators, Inel and Aaron are played by Inel Tomlinson and Aaron Phipps respectively.
    • In a similar way, the unnamed engineer who accompanies Driver 22 at the beginning of Driven to Glory returns in Classic Car-Nage, where his given name is revealed to be James, and he's played by James Alexander.
  • Dawson Casting: In Rise of Ravenwest, Joseph Millson, who played Ryan McKane in Driven to Glory, also portrays Ryan when he's supposed to be 20 years younger (in-game, Ryan was in his mid-30's during the 2002 flashbacks), even though he was 48 at the time of the DLC's release.
  • Distanced from Current Events: One of the brand-new additions of Legends was a race track in Moscow, across the Red Square. However, the game happened to be released on February 25, 2022, which was only one day after the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, and while the game's baseline career mode used the track, none of the subsequent DLC storylines for the game feature the track on any of their campaign missions.
  • Fake Nationality:
    • Both Nathan and Ryan McKane were played by British actors putting on an American accent (which somewhat varies from "Transatlantic" to "not even bothering to").
    • Lara Carvalho, a Brazilian Ravenwest driver, was portrayed by Nicole Castillo-Mavromatis, an actress from the Dominican Republic. This is more obvious in her one line of Portuguese when she quits Ravenwest, where her accent sounds less Brazilian Portuguese and more Caribbean.
  • Follow the Leader: Formula 1: Drive to Survive is what gave Codemasters inspiration to create the Driven to Glory storyline for the game, and it shows, as they basically copied the same concept. This concept would later be also used in F1 23's Braking Point 2 storyline.
  • Milestone Celebration: Technically. The release of GRID Legends in 2022 marks the 25th anniversary of the franchise, which started first as TOCA in 1997 before it evolved into GRID in 2008.
