Trivia / Fourth Light Series

Go To

  • Fandom Nod: Anne possibly losing use of her right arm from the Calamity power inside her is the author's take on the "Anne losing her arm" theory. Hop Pop dying is also played out.
  • Flip-Flop of God: The author initially wasn't going to have Hunter return after Love Duel since his fate in the show had been undetermined at the time. However, he came back in The Fourth Light since they realized the series is pretty much set in an Alternate Universe now.
  • Follow the Leader: 77xfire credits Discet's The Arcanist Marcy Wu as the inspiration behind A True Family being a three-act series.
  • Meaningful Release Date:
    • The reason Chapter 9 of TFL was uploaded the day after Chapter 8 is because it was the same day the airdates for the premires of Amphibia Season 3B and The Owl House Season 2B were announced.
    • Chapter 10 of TFL and the first one-shot, "Smol", were both published on Valentine's Day 2022: the focus of both were Anne and Marcy's relationship.
    • "Crossing Paths", the first one-shot for The Fourth Light was published on May 14, 2022, the day the Amphibia series finale "The Hardest Thing" aired.
    • Chapter 9 of ATF was published on Easter Sunday 2023, a day after the final Owl House episode "Watching and Dreaming" premiered and the same day it was uploaded to Youtube. It was also posted the same date "Reaching Out" had aired the previous year.
  • Outdated by Canon: Tomorrow's Truth ended with Luz gaining her palisman in the form of a blue jay named Bluebert. "For the Future" would end with her palisman egg hatching into a snakeshifter named Stringbean and would lead to the author retconing Bluebert's existence after putting up a poll to include Stringbean. Nevertheless, the Distant Finale in "Watching and Dreaming" would introduce a blue jay palisman in the form of Waffle, Hunter's palisman carved in Flapjack's memory.
  • Out of Order:
    • On Fanfiction.net, Love Duel was the first story to be published because it was the first to be created, but the author confirmed on AO3 that One Small Change is the first chronologically.
    • All the one-shots were created and published long after their respective stories were completed.
  • Referenced by...: The series was given an honorable mention by ChampionElCid's The Owl and The Frog in its 35th chapter.
  • Schedule Slip: Inverted. Chapters for the series are released on Wednesdays, but there have been a few early releases.
    • The entirety of Tomorrow's Truth was released in the span of three days.
    • Chapter 9 of The Fourth Light was released one day after Chapter 8 was. Chapter 10 came 4 days later. As of Chapter 12, it's been confirmed that 2 chapters will be released each week so that the story ends the week of both shows' returns.
    • Played straight for Chapter 2 of No Matter What, as the author stated it didn't feel right to post it due to recent events in the US (i.e., the Texas school shootings.) It's still inverted since Chapter 3 would be posted alongside it the Friday of the same week.
    • Played straight again with Chapter 3 of Recovery, which was delayed to the next week for rewrites. It's invoked after the fourth chapter, as the author took a week off and would return to writing A True Family the following week, then another week because they weren't able to proofread Chapter 8.
    • Chapter 9 of A True Family goes the inverted route once more the author confirms that it's to make up for the extended break. Sadly, the story fell into another hiatus for two weeks before Chapter 10 was released.
    • Due to real life issues and distractions, the author officially declared after the previous hiatus that chapters would be released every two weeks from that point on.
  • Series Hiatus: The main storyline entered one upon the completion of the fourth story, as the author took a break from writing to watch Amphibia's end. Afterward, the hiatus continued with the writer focusing on the Finding Family series and A True Family: the fifth entry came out eight months after Fourth Light ended.
  • Throw It In!:
    • Since the author occasionally gets ideas for stories that aren't included since they don't add much to the main storyline and thanks to a review, the author decided to create the one-shots as a way to show them.
    • Chapter 3 of TFL was rewritten so the scene including Sasha's parents matched the show.
    • One Small Change originally didn't exist, but after hearing an orchestral remix of "No Big Deal" with the Owl House theme before it and coming up with the final battle in The Fourth Light (and writing half of it), the first story (and the series as a whole) was created.
    • Sasha and Sprig's interaction at the end of "OH GOD MARCY WHY?!" was a later addition.
    • The extension of No Matter What was created based on the multiple ideas that were featured in One Small Change.
    • After "For the Future" aired, the author released a poll asking if they should keep Bluebert as Luz's palisman, edit the story so Stringbean has always been in his place, or retcon it later. The poll ended with the latter having the most votes.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Tomorrow's Truth and No Matter What were originally going to be one-shots.
    • The Fourth Light initially had 22 chapters, but were shortened to 20 in total.
    • The working title for TFL "Chapter 6: Amity Vs. ?" was "Amogus".
    • Recovery had been meant to begin following the conclusion of Amphibia, but was delayed. The story was set to start in October or November 2022, but was held off until February 15, 2023.
      • In addition, One Year Later had been meant for release on the one year anniversary of One Small Change, but was stalled until the end of December 2022.
  • Word of God:
    • On the Owl House side, the story is set in an Alternate Timeline where everything worked out. The author has clarified that everything that happened in Season 2B either didn't happen or happened differently.
    • In her magic-powered state, Luz is as powerful as the calamity-powered Anne, Marcy and Sasha combined.
    • Luz knew the lyrics to "No Big Deal" because Anne told her about the Battle of the Bands and showed her the lyrics.
    • A True Family will be a three-act story, one act for each season of Amphibia.
    • Regarding A True Family:
      • This tweet explains Anne's condition, which won't be explained in-story for some time.
      • The song Anne, and later Sprig, hums to Marcy to help her relax is "Anne's Theme", the end credits song for Amphibia.
  • Write What You Know: Since the author worked as a camp counselor and was trained to recognize signs of child abuse, they used said training to write No Matter What in order to raise awareness on the subject.
