Go To

Due to the premise of the story, this page assumes you've read the previous three entries in the Fourth Light Series. As such, this page will have unmarked spoilers for those fics.

The Fourth Light is Part 4 of the series of the same name. It is the sequel to One Small Change, picking up from where it left off.

Right after Anne and the Plantars arrived on Earth and faced one of King Andrias' robots, they're taken by surprise when Luz Noceda calls by pure chance to see if Anne got home. Needing help to face Andrias' invasion, Luz and Amity travel to California to give Anne some backup and support, but none of them know that Andrias is aware of this as well.

The story began on December 15, 2021 and ended on March 16, 2022. It's comprised of 20 chapters (the prologue, the 18 chapters that make up the story and an epilogue). It's found here on Fanfiction.Net and here on AO3. A sequel has been confirmed titled Recovery. The one-shot "Crossing Paths", set simultaneously as "Chapter 2: Support", can be found here and here.

The Fourth Light contains examples of:

  • Accidental Misnaming:
    • Hop Pop calls Luz "Liz" at one point.
    • Unintended variation: as it turns out, Anne's first nickname for Marcy, "Mar-Mar", came from Marcy struggling to introduce herself and while she was stammering, Anne assumed "Mar-Mar" was her name until she was corrected.
  • Adaptational Explanation: Anne gave Marcy her nickname "Mar Mar" after she struggled to introduce herself to Anne during their first meeting.
  • Affectionate Nickname: As " Chapter 17: Unity" shows, Luz calls Bluebert "Azulito".
  • All for Nothing: Andrias reveals that blowing up the Calamity Box didn't matter: it was only needed to channel the power of the gems and can easily be replaced. He also reveals that he has ways of replenishing his robot army without the box.
  • Alone Among the Couples: Once Sasha learns Luz has a girlfriend, she laughs at the realization that she's the only single girl among the human teens.
  • Ambiguous Situation: After seeing Lady Olivia tell General Yunan to return before the girls and Grime leave for their final battle against Andrias' forces, Sasha questions if they're a couple. Marcy, who knows them better than anyone, just shrugs.
  • Avengers Assemble: Several friends and allies of the girls from both Amphibia and the Boiling Isles arrive in Newtopia to take on Andrias' robot army in the appropriately named Chapter 14: "Assemble".
  • Batman Gambit: Luz has King Andrias open a portal right into his throne room so long as she and Anne are the only ones to come through it. Not only does she know he'll have armed frobots waiting for them (which the girls disable), but she blows up the music box and claims the gems. On top of that, Eda reveals the second Calamity Box which she, Amity and the Plantars will use to travel to Amphibia to help them.
  • Battle in the Center of the Mind: Sasha and Marcy each go through this in order to use the power of their respective Calamity gems, having to fight their inner demons. Luz also has to face the Copy, the piece of the Titan's soul within her, so she can take its power for her own. All three of them succeed.
  • Berserk Button: After King Andrias tries to use a robot resembling Marcy to kill Anne, she gets VERY mad that he'd use her love against her, to the point that she tapped into her Calamity Gem powers at will.
  • Big Damn Kiss: Discussed in Chapter 9: Sasha tells Anne to give Marcy one of these next time she sees her so Marcy will know she's forgiven her for stranding them in Amphibia.
    • Anne follows through on this in the next chapter, doubling as a Forceful Kiss in order to free Marcy from the Core's control. The girls later share another one when they have a proper reunion.
    • Sprig surprises everyone by giving Ivy one before he joins the group going to take down Andrias.
    • Amity gives one to Luz to bring her back when the Titan takes over her mind.
  • Big Damn Reunion: Chapter 14 has the Plantars, Amity and Eda reunite with Anne, Marcy and Luz. Sasha even gets one with Percy and Braddock.
  • Birds of a Feather: Non-romantic examples.
    • Luz admits that with how much she and Marcy have in common, she believes they'd get along perfectly.
    • Luz also has some similarities with General Yunan, namely their Large Ham personalities when it comes to bragging about their accomplishments. Everyone who's had to deal with just Yunan knows that's a problem for everyone else.
Sasha: Oh, great... now there's two of them.
  • Breather Episode: In Chapter 4, Anne decides to let Luz and Amity have a day to themselves since they've been working hard to help her; as does Hop Pop, who volunteers the Plantars to take Domino to the vet.
  • Body Horror:
    • The Calamity power Anne possesses starts to affect her with blue veins slowly spreading across her body.
    • While using the Titan's power, Luz's body grows horns out of her head and gains fangs and claws.
  • Brick Joke:
    • In the first chapter, Polly suggests asking the witches if they can help her make magic bombs. Come Chapter 14, she uses such weapons: i.e., explosive potions.
    • Also in Chapter 14, Hop Pop reclaims his empty wallet that Eda stole from him following their first encounter in the crossover.
    • In "Tomorrow's Truth", Eda warns everyone not to make King do his "squeak of rage" since there's no telling how his voice power would react to it. "Chapter 17: Unity" shows that it creates a sonic wave strong enough to destroy an entire room and send a super-powered person across it.
  • Brought Down to Normal:
    • To save Anne's life before her Calamity power kills her, the girls return to the second temple so they can finish charging the second gem.
    • As Luz loses control of her magic, Marcy realizes Newtopia Castle is a temple and upon seeing the second Calamity Box has one gem, she charges it on the pedestal draining Luz of her power and saving her life.
  • Brutal Honesty: Polly as usual, since she outright tells Anne's parents, Luz and Amity about a few things when Anne can't bring herself to.
    (Regarding Marcy's fate)
Polly: She got impaled by a flaming sword.
(Everyone looks at her in shock.)
Polly: What? I thought I would just make it easier for [Anne]! We were going to tell them about that, right?
(Then when Anne's father asks about the "blue thing")
    Polly: She has superpowers now.
    Anne: (shouting) Stop doing that!
    • This later occurs with Sprig, who tells Mrs. Boonchuy about the time Anne served a food critic a live kraken working at a restaurant.
  • The Bus Came Back:
    • Hunter as a whole reappears here, due to the author deciding to bring him back.
    • Valeriana shows up when the girls head back to the second temple in Chapter 12.
    • King, Willow, Gus, the Blight twins, Vee, Lilith and Raine all return in Chapter 14, the latter two joining the effort to make a portal to Amphibia so everyone can aid the girls in defeating Andrias.
  • Call-Back: Pseudo Blood is brought up after the role it played in Love Duel: it's one of the ingredients in a healing potion to be used on Marcy's wounds. It's later revealed to be the reason Luz defeated Emperor Belos.
  • The Cavalry: Right as the girls, Grime and Yunan find themselves surrounded by robots, in comes Sprig and Raine providing a distraction for Polly and Frobo (now with an abomination body) to attack with magic bombs as Eda, Amity and Hunter arrive leading several Amphibians, Luz's friends, the whole toad army and several abomitons against Andrias' robots, allowing the calamity trio, Luz & Amity, the Plantars, Frobo and Grime to go after Andrias.
  • The Cameo: Chapter 1 shows Edric and Emira seeing their sister and Luz off before they leave for LA.
    • Chapter 4 features one from Ned, while on duty as deliveryman for Thai Go.
    • Bernardo briefly appears in Chapter 13 since he was called in to outfit everyone with new armor.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: The Core (refered to as the Night) and the Copy (the Titan possessing Luz) briefly interact as old acquaintences, which gets lampshaded.
Sasha: (groans) Are they seriously having a casual conversation right now?
  • Chekhov's Gun: The healing potion made with Pseudo Blood was meant to heal Marcy's impalement wounds, which it does.
  • Cliffhanger: "Chapter 7: Return" ends with Luz blowing up the Calamity Box, stranding her and Anne in Amphibia with Andrias unable to use it anymore.
    • "Chapter 9: To Newtopia" ends with Anne, Luz, Sasha and Grime facing off against the Core-possessed Marcy.
    • "Chapter 11: The Calm" simply ends on the words "and everything went wrong right" after Luz brings out the three Calamity gems.
  • Connected All Along:
    • As it turns out, the beings in the Core and the Titan have met in the past.
    • As "Crossing Paths" reveals, Luz and Amity met Mr. X when he was called in to investigate the Day of Unity and covered everything up from the government.
  • Continuity Nod: To both series.
    • The prologue has Luz telling Camila and Vee about when Amity kissed her in "Through the Looking Glass Ruins". Amity later tells Anne and the Plantars about her library job in Chapter 5.
    • "Dragon Claw Z" is mentioned again: apparently both Anne and Luz are big fans of it.
    • Luz encourages Anne to believe they'll save Marcy by saying "We can fix this together!"
    • Anne tells Luz about the time Marcy walked into a zoo full of escaped snakes while she was "in the zone".
    • Sprig's makeup skills, first seen in "Vlog from the Bog: Glamour!" are shown again when Sprig gives Amity a makeover.
    • When Hunter sees Sprig for the first time, he internally questions why he looks just like the old plush toy he had, seen in "Hunting Palismen".
    • Once again, someone's parents mistakenly refer to Amphibia as "Amphibiland", causing the Plantars to correct them.
    • In Chapter 3, Sprig mentions the events of "Lily Pad Thai", namely how Anne nearly got Duckweed killed.
    • Ned is seen working as the Thai Go deliveryman in Chapter 4.
    • Yet again, Sprig is almost eaten and says "WHY IS IT ALWAYS ME?!” in response.
    • The second Calamity Box that Eda stole from someone in the Boiling Isles was seen on a shelf in the basement of the Owl House in "Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door".
    • When Marcy rebuffs Amity's statement about making mistakes by saying she couldn't have almost gotten her girlfriend killed, Amity prepares to tell her about her almost getting Luz vivisected only to get interrupted. They tell the Calamity Trio the story in the epilogue.
    • The term "awesome girlfriend" is used again.
  • Crazy-Prepared:
    • When Luz sees Hunter off, she gives him a drawing of something she wants Eda to look for in the Owl House saying it's part of a backup plan she's got brewing. It's revealed in Chapter 8 that the item in question is a second Calamity Box.
    • At the same time, Eda has Hunter give Luz a vial that she'll know how to use. It turns out to be pseudo blood which she drinks to use her own magic against Andrias.
  • Cuteness Proximity:
    • With Luz's love of the supernatural, she gushes over how fluffy Joe Sparrow and cute MicroAngelo are. She also voices her opinion on Ivy being Sprig's girlfriend.
    • The Calamity Trio immediately fawn over King the second they see him, much to his continued annoyance.
    • Luz, Anne and Marcy can't help cooing over Sprig kissing Ivy.
  • A Day in the Limelight:
    • A portion of Chapter 4: "Cats, Birds and Concern" shows things from the POVs of Ghost and Bluebert.
    • Sasha gets some focus in Chapter 13, aptly named "Sasha and to the Castle".
    • The one-shot "Crossing Paths" gives the focus to Amity as she teaches the Plantars how to act like humans.
  • Demonic Possession: As per canon, the Core possesses Marcy.
    • After Marcy's freed, Andrias allows the Core to possess him in the final fight to match against the powered-up Calamity Trio and Luz.
    • As a last resort to take on Andrias, Luz downs the last of her Pseudo Blood, which results in the fragment of the Titan's soul within her to take over her mind. It turns out to be a case of History Repeats, as this was how she defeated Belos.
  • Demoted to Extra: After having supporting roles in the "Love Duel" arc, Eda, King and Camila only appear in the prologue and first chapter before Luz and Amity travel to L.A. to meet with Anne. Vee also appears in the prologue while Edric and Emira show up in the first chapter.
    • Later subverted in Eda's case: Luz considers having her meet up with them to help, but decides she should stay in Connecticut because there's no guarantee Andrias' invasion will begin in L.A. Eda comes days later to pick up Amity and the Plantars so they can get the second Calamity Box working.
    • It's subverted entirely when Eda, King, Vee and the twins participate in the final battle on Amphibia.
  • Deadpan Snarker: For cats, Ghost and Domino are each shown to be one.
  • Deal with the Devil: Chapter 6 seems to end with Luz preparing to make one with King Andrias. The next chapter reveals they arranged for him to open a portal to Amphibia as long as only she and Anne came through it. Anne points out how obvious of a trap this is, but it turns out to be a Batman Gambit.
  • Didn't Think This Through: As always, Luz. She left Amity in charge of teaching the Plantars about surviving on Earth, forgetting that Amity had only been in the human realm for a few weeks but still having faith in her. By the time Luz and Anne return home, Polly says the training bombed but the Plantars put the witch through a lot and were in the process of making it up to her.
  • Disney Death: Hop Pop is killed by a punch from Andrias, only to somehow be brought back to life by Anne's powers.
  • Energy Weapon: In the final battle against King Andrias, each Calamity warrior has a weapon empowered by their own energy (except for Anne, who has her fists covered): Luz's staff, Sasha's heron swords and Marcy's crossbow.
  • Everyone Knew Already:
    • Luz was able to figure out how Anne felt about Marcy in Chapter 2 based on how she'd get when Anne brought her up.
    • In the following chapter, Mr. and Mrs. Waybright tell Anne that Sasha came to them for advice on how to deal with Anne and Marcy crushing on each other.
  • "Everybody Laughs" Ending: The story ends with the Boiling Isles group returning to the demon realm... only for King to come back through to pick up some snacks from the Boonchuys, causing everyone to laugh before joining him.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: Luz's hair ends up turning silver once she takes control of her internal magic from the Copy.
  • Face Palm: The Plantars do this in the prologue when Anne accidentally lets slip she's back on Earth and tries to deny it. Lucky for her it's Luz on the other end of the line.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Everyone fears Hop Pop was killed when he took Andrias' punch in place of Anne. Then he realizes they didn't check his pulse (though in Sprig and Polly's case, they don't know how to do that). Of course, Hop Pop actually did die...
  • Forceful Kiss: Anne does this to Darcy in order to help Marcy break free of the Core's control. It works. Anne performs another one in order to get Marcy (who's unconscious and bleeding out from her injuries) to swallow the healing potion. Anne also convinces Amity to do this to Luz to help her beat the Copy.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy learn about Sasha and Andrias' betrayals and Anne's powers earlier than they did in the show while also learning about Marcy's fate which they're never informed of. Sasha's parents are also informed of how the girls disappeared much sooner (also, they appear).
    • Cloakbot is taken care of much sooner as well, getting destroyed by Luz's fire glyph a day after his first assault on Anne and the Plantars.
    • While Anne and the Plantars still go to the museum, they don't discover the Amphibian pot since Anne suffers a breakdown in the solar system exhibit. This results in her having to be taken home, which along with the chapter's ending, puts the story on a different path.
    • Because Anne returns to Amphibia early, the Core takes over Marcy's body before she's properly healed.
    • Rather than Polly building Frobo a new body on Earth, Amity makes an abomination body for him on the Boiling Isles.
    • The Day of Unity actually does lead to the Human and Demon Realms merging, with Luz's friends fighting the Coven heads while she, Eda and King face off against Belos.
    • Andrias' invasion never travels to Earth due to the Calamity Box being destroyed and since Marcy was freed from the Core's possession, Andrias allows it to possess him as a replacement, forcing the Calamity Trio to fight them as thr Final Boss. The Core is destroyed in its helmet form so Amphibia's moon remains while Andrias dies due to the strain the possession left on his body.
  • Glomp: Luz hugs Eda when they meet up, and the Plantars do the same to Anne and Marcy upon seeing she's alive, Polly going as far as tackling the latter.
  • Healing Hands: Lilith has a healing glyph of her own creation. With Marcy's help, Luz is able to make one of her own.
  • Healing Potion: The Pseudo Blood potion is a rather potent one.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After learning what Belos had planned for him, Hunter defected from the Emperor and sided with Luz and her friends in order to stop him.
  • Heh Heh, You Said "X": A delirious Marcy goes with the classic "you said butt" joke while Andrias explains his attempts to offer the Core a different host.
  • Heroic BSoD: While exploring the museum's solar system exhibit, Anne remembers the memory of when she had to visit it on its opening day with Marcy. Between remembering how happy she felt seeing Marcy so excited, seeing her everywhere and the nightmares she's been having of their last moments together, Anne runs out crying forcing Amity to call her father to console her before her mother came to take everyone home. This is what leads Luz to agreeing to use her backup plan for getting Anne and the Plantats back to Amphibia.
  • High-Pressure Emotion: An offscreen case is performed by Amity after Luz calls her amazing and talented in the prologue. Anne hears it over the phone and wonders if a tea kettle's whistling in the background.
  • Human Shield: In a literal case, the Core-possessed Marcy uses Luz as one to stop Sasha from attacking them.
  • Inelegant Blubbering: Anne and Marcy become sobbing messes five seconds after Anne tells Marcy she forgave her for everything that's happened.
  • Insistent Terminology: Bluebert is very persistent on calling Luz "mom", much to Ghost's annoyance.
Ghost: (annoyed) Ugh… for the hundredth time, she is not your mom!
Bluebert: She gave me life, so she is my mom! Therefore, I shall call her "mom".
  • In Spite of a Nail: The events of "Hop 'Til You Drop" occur with Amity in Anne's place, since Anne's having a day out with Luz.
    • Cloakbot may have been destroyed, but Anne still faces one of Andrias' robots in a junkyard and uses her Calamity powers to kick it into the atmosphere before it self-destructed.
    • Olivia and Yunan turn on the king and attempt to free Marcy, who still gets possessed by the Core and becomes Darcy.
    • Hunter left the Emperor's Coven after learning Belos' true plans for him.
  • Internal Reveal: Anne and Luz discover they both returned to Earth.
    • "Chapter 1: Arrival": Anne brings Luz and Amity up to speed on how she got sent to Amphibia and returned.
    • "Chapter 2: Support" has several: Anne, her family and the Plantars learn Luz and Amity are a couple: in turn, Luz learns about Anne's relationship with Marcy. Anne's parents also learn about about what happened before Anne and the Plantars came to Earth and witness Anne's Calamity power activating.
    • "Chapter 3: Portals and Memories": Anne explains everything that happened to Mr. and Mrs. Waybright but leaves them in the dark about their daughter's actions.
    • "Chapter 6: Amity vs. ?": Anne comes out about her relationship with Marcy to her parents. And thanks to Robo-Marcy, the Boonchuys, the Plantars, and the girls discover that Marcy is still alive.
    • "Chapter 8: Escape": Luz meets Sasha, Grime and the citizens of Wartwood, Anne discovers Sasha's leading a rebellion there and Sasha learns Marcy's still alive.
    • "Chapter 10: Marcy": Anne, Luz, Sasha and Grime see Marcy possessed by the Core. After being freed, Marcy is properly introduced to Luz.
    • "Chapter 12: The Storm": The girls discover Anne's powers came from the blue gem because she only charged it halfway.
    • "Chapter 17: Unity": Eda reveals to Amity, the Calamity Trio and the Plantars how Luz defeating Belos was due to drinking Pseudo Blood.
  • It's All My Fault: After hearing The Prophecy, Sasha blames herself for the infighting between her, Anne and Marcy, as her instigating the toad rebellion is what kept them from believing her about Andrias being evil.
  • Killed Off for Real:
    • Emperor Belos was instantly disintegrated by titan-powered Luz.
    • King Andrias, upon being freed from his possession, is Reduced to Dust.
  • Kiss of Life: A variant. As Marcy was unable to swallow the healing potion, Anne forced it into her mouth through a kiss. This is what saved Marcy's life.
  • Lampshade Hanging:
    • The fact that there's another Calamity Box and how it got to the Boiling Isles.
Polly: Uh… isn’t anyone going to question why there's a second music box?!
Eda: Who knows? I remember stealing this from some chump in the black market… thought I could earn a decent amount from it.
      Amity: We’ll tackle that later.
    • Hop Pop being brought back to life through Anne's powers leaves Luz wondering how it happened, but Amity tells her not to worry aboit it.
  • Love Makes You Dumb: Upon seeing how good Amity looks after her makeover, Luz can only say "humina" and start stammering resulting in Anne having to change the subject to save her.
  • Make-Out Kids: Once they're together again, Anne and Marcy lock lips at any possible chance they get.
  • The Matchmaker: As Sasha's parents reveal, she tried to think of a way to get Anne and Marcy to confess and get together. When Sasha admits to it after they save Marcy, Anne tells her it probably wouldn't have worked.
  • A Minor Kidroduction: Chapter 10 opens on a flashback showing how Anne first met Marcy in Kindergarden.
  • Mistaken for Cheating: In her possessed state, the Core convinced Marcy that Anne forgot about her, moved on and started dating Luz.
  • My Friends... and Zoidberg: Anne rallies everyone into a cheer as she vows they'll rescue Marcy, only to remind them all that they also have to save Sasha.
  • Mythology Gag: Lilith creating a healing glyph is a nod to this MoringMark comic.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • Turns out Duckweed wasn't the first food critic Anne tried to impress and did something dumb to do it as a result.
    • Something happened to Luz when she faced off against Emperor Belos during the Day of Unity. Only Eda and King know what it was, but they kept it to themselves at Luz's request. Later becomes a Resolved Noodle Incident.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Braddock put up a (supposedly loud) argument against Beatrix in order to convince her and the rest of the toad army to storm Newtopia to defeat Andrias.
  • Open-Minded Parent: Mrs. Boonchuy and the Waybrights are all respective towards same-sex relationships given the former's reaction to Luz and Amity and the latter two knowing about Anne and Marcy's mutual attraction. When Anne eventually admits she was dating Marcy to her parents, they accept it with open arms.
  • Out of Focus:
    • Chapter 5 has Luz fall into this as she researches possible portal ideas while Anne, Amity and the Plantars go to the museum.
    • While Polly still appears with everyone in Chapter 6, she doesn't have an individual speaking role, only talking in group shouting.
    • Amity and the Plantars fall into this between Chapters 8 and 14 since the story switches focus to Anne and Luz in Amphibia while they start helping Eda get the second Calamity Box to work.
  • Pillar of Light: Whatever magic Luz used to destroy the Frobots surrounding her and Anne in the second temple created a pillar of silver light, which alerted Marcy, Sasha and Valeriana to their location.
  • Pokémon Speak: While palismen can only be understood by their respective owners, Chapter 4 shows they can communicate with each other along with Earth animals.
  • The Reveal: Chapter 2 unveils the fact that Hunter succeeded Belos as Emperor of the Boiling Isles. It's also revealed that Marcy's parents moved away after the girls disappeared.
    • Sasha told her parents about Anne and Marcy having feelings for each other and asked them for advice.
    • The item Luz told Hunter to tell Eda to search for is another Calamity Box, which Eda stole from someone in the black market.
    • Lady Olivia realized Anne was still connected to the blue Calamity gem.
    • Luz killed Belos after she drank Pseudo Blood, giving her the magic of the Titan itself, not to mention she destroyed her school. She also created a sleep spell.
    • Valeriana reveals that Luz is part of the prophecy to defeat the Core.
Valeriana: "If the three lights were to lose their way, a fourth shall come, and together, they shall seize the day."
    • Lilith created her own healing glyph before the final battle against Belos.
    • Newtopia Castle is a temple, and it's connected to the one gem in Eda's Calamity Box which can be charged with Luz's powers.
    • Hooty came up with the idea for pseudo blood after upchucking a botany book with knowledge on a copy plant that can duplicate potions. Eda mixed Titan's Blood with a potion, duplicated it and seperated it.
    • Luz confirms that Hop Pop actually did die in the epilogue, but was revived by Anne somehow.
  • Running Gag:
    • Polly still calls Luz "Better Dressed Anne". Luz lampshades it when Polly refers to Amity by her actual name at the end of the story.
Luz: She calls you by your name, but I'm still "better dressed Anne"?
    • Chapter 2 has Luz having trouble pronouncing Hop Pop's full name.
    • Since Chapter 3, Anne starts zoning out everytime she remembered a happy memory with Sasha and Marcy from the past and someone has to snap her out of it.
    • Sasha placing Anne and Marcy in the same bed while they're unconscious/asleep so they'll get embarrassed by it when they wake up.
  • A Scar to Remember: Due to Andrias impaling her with his sword, Marcy now has a scar on her torso and back.
  • Secret-Keeper: Regarding Marcy's scar, Amity learns about it while they're fighting Andrias' forces and she agrees not to mention it to Anne after everything's all said and done.
  • Sequel Hook: The story ends with Marcy not telling Anne about her scar for the time being and the Demon Realm group planning on making a portal from Connecticut to L.A. so the girls can visit each other whenever they want.
  • Shout-Out: Chapter 10 contains a reference to Sonic Adventure 2 during the girls' escape from Newtopia.
    Yunan: Follow me!
Luz: Are you going to set us free?
Yunan: Yes, just trust me and we will escape from the city!
  • Spared by the Adaptation:
    • Since they were able to escape the castle, Lady Olivia and Yunan weren't subjected to the mind control collars.
    • Grime never fights Darcy, so he never gets his left arm amputated.
    • Most notable of all, Anne doesn't have to use all of the gems' powers at once, so her body isn't destroyed.
  • Spotting the Thread: Amity learns about Robo-Marcy thanks to Ghost seeing her talking with Andrias. Sprig figures it out since she claims to have seen Anne's hair turn blue, which was impossible since the real Marcy was saving him and only saw Anne glowing. Anne eventually sees through the lie since Robo-Marcy didn't know the purpose of Marcy's bracelet.
  • The Stations of the Canon: "The New Normal" happens exactly as it did in canon.
  • Swallowed Whole: Hooty does this to Sprig in Chapter 8.
  • Tears of Joy: Anne and Marcy after reuniting, Marcy again when she reunites with Joe Sparrow.
  • There Is Only One Bed:
    • During their stay at the Boonchuy residence, Luz and Amity have to share a bed.
    • On more than one occasion, Anne and Marcy are placed in the same bed while sleeping/unconcious in Amphibia. Sasha namedrops this the first time.
  • Took a Level in Badass:
    • Amity's managed to learn one of Darius' spells, being able to cover herself in abomination armor.
    • Luz gained an alternate use of magic due to drinking pseudo blood, able to destroy several frobots at once. Word of God states she's as powerful as all three calamity girls combined.
  • Triumphant Reprise: During the final clash against the Core-possessed Andrias, Anne starts singing "No Big Deal", now joined by Marcy, Sasha and Luz, all four girls powered up and adding their own lines.
  • Wham Line: From Chapter 8, regarding the destruction of the Calamity Box and Anne saying Luz destroyed their only way home:
Luz: Anne... let me ask you something. Who said that there was just one music box?
  • World-Healing Wave: To cure Amphibia of the damage done by Andrias' stripmining, Marcy suggests the Calamity trio channel their power to the ground to heal the planet. Despite Sasha lampshading how cheesy it is, it works.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: The Titan all but says this to Belos when it possesses Luz and kills him.
