Trivia / Boris

The band:

  • Creator Backlash: Pink is one of the band's best loved albums and is considered by some critics to be their best, but the band has had some negative things to say about it. Setlists have typically included the title track and occasionally "Farewell" while ignoring the rest of the album. However, they reissued it in 2016 and played it live in its entirety, so either they've come around a bit or are just willing to put aside their own opinions and give the fans what they want.
  • Creator Couple: Wata and Atsuo are married.
  • The Pete Best: Nagata, appropriately enough, their first drummer.

The TV show:

  • Acting for Two: Corrado Guzzanti plays both crazy actor Mariano and his priest/mentor Father Gabrielli, Three, if you include The Count (the character played in-universe by Mariano in the Soap Within a Show).
  • All-Star Cast: Several main roles are portrayed by high-profile Italian performers, be them TV and/or film actors (Carolina Crescentini as Corinna, Pietro Sermonti as Stanis, Antonio Catania as Lopez), comedians (Caterina Guzzanti as Arianna) or voice actors (Francesco Pannofino as RenĂ©, Alessandro Tiberi as Alessandro).
  • Channel Hop: The first three seasons aired on Fox Italia's satellite TV channels, while the revival is a Disney+ exclusive.
  • The Character Died with Him: Itala's actress Roberta Fiorentini died in 2019. In the first episode of the 2022 revival, we see the main characters going to Itala's funeral.
  • Conclusion in Another Medium: Although the series originally ended with its third season in 2010, the aptly titled 2011 feature "Boris - The Film" served as the proper finale. Being it a theatrical release, it overlaps with The Movie. Eventually Subverted when the show got revived in 2022 with a fourth series.
  • The Danza:
    • Alessandro is played by Alessandro Tiberi, while Karin is played by Karin Proia.
    • In a Freeze-Frame Bonus in the film (and later confirmed by the credits of season 4), we can see that the three screenwriters are called "Aprea", "Max" and "Zaghia", the same names (or real-life nicknames) as their actors.
  • Fake American: In season 4, Allison Daltman, the Platform's Europe manager, is played by British-Italian actress Emma Lo Bianco.
  • Playing Against Type:
    • Before this show, Pietro Sermonti was known for playing Guido Zanin, a standard good-hearted doctor in a family-friendly show. Here, he plays Unsympathetic Comedy Protagonist Stanis, a parody of a talentless and obnoxious actor who just happens to play a doctor on the Soap Within a Show.
    • Famous comedian Caterina Guzzanti plays Straight Man Arianna, the only completely serious character in a comedic context. Arianna is also a Berlusconi supporter, which goes completely against the well-known political opinions of the actress (who actually hated Arianna's story arc in season 3 for this reason).
  • Real-Life Relative:
    • Siblings Caterina and Corrado Guzzanti respectively portray Arianna and Mariano/The Count.
    • Eugenia Costantini, who plays Cristina, is the daughter of Laura Morante, who appears in Season 3 as the woman who's accidentally filmed while hanging her laundry.
    • Biascica's children are played by Paolo Calabresi's real-life children, eldest son Arturo who appears in Stopper and later all three of them, briefly, in the film. Aurora Calabresi, Paolo's daughter, later reappears in season 4 in the separate role of Lalla.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: One of the three real-life screenwriters of Boris, Mattia Torre, passed away in 2019, before season 4 was officially commissioned. In the first episode of said season, it's revealed one of the three In-Universe screenwriters is dead and only appears as a ghost to his colleagues.
  • Role Reprise: Almost the entire cast returned to their roles for the fourth season, after more than a decade since season 3 and the film. Exceptions include Roberta Fiorentini — who sadly passed away in 2019 — as Itala, and Ilaria Stivali as Gloria.
  • What Could Have Been: The character "Stanis" was originally supposed to be an actor who plays a priest on the Soap Within a Show. It was Pietro Sermonti's idea to make Stanis "an actor who plays a doctor" to satirize the popularity of his previous role, Dr. Guido Zanin on Un Medico In Famiglia.
  • You Look Familiar: Aurora Calabresi (Lalla) had previously a brief appearance in the film as Biascica's daughter.
