GSN’s way to play Pyramid.

Game Show Network Original that allows two teams to collectively play charades and give word clues to a specified theme for a chance to win $10,000.

The first round shows four categories. Once a category is selectednote  they will have 30 seconds to get up to 5 clues. Each clue correctly given gets 100 points, but getting all five earns them 200 points as a bonus. This round subsequently repeats in the next round with the points doubled.

The third round ("Choose your Word") requires two players, one giving the clues to the word and the other answering as many clues as possible within 60 seconds. The point amounts depend on how easy the word is (200 for easier clues, 400 for medium, 600 for harder clues). In the last 15 seconds of the round, they have an option to solve a single 2,000-point word (considerably hard to get). Once both teams take a turn, the winner of the game advances to the Bonus Round with a chance of winning $10,000.

Get A Clue ran for two seasons of 65 episodes each, debuting on January 6, 2020 and concluding on April 16, 2021.

Not to be confused with the similarly titled Disney Channel film.

This show provides examples of:

  • Bonus Round: The winning team has to correctly guess eight words via clues in 60 seconds. The two contestants (one who guesses and another who gives the clue) are randomized, and the clue giver can pass if they don’t know the word well. Getting all eight wins them $10,000.
  • Character Catchphrase: Unintentional or not, Rob’s “TIME!” can fit the category. How he says it can also feel funny at times.
  • Double the Dollars: The second round is worth double the points; 200 points for each correct clue, and 400 bonus points for five successful clues in a row.
  • Game Show Host / No Indoor Voice: Rob Belushi.
  • Golden Snitch: Round 3 of the game show can potentially be this if the team manages to douse a lot of clues. Bonus points if they clear the 2,000-point word clue.
  • Miming the Cues: Averted. They are allowed to speak and give hand signals about the word, but not say any part of the word.
  • Obvious Rule Patch: In the first season, Rob selected the categories for the first two rounds to the teams. The teams would ultimately select the categories in the subsequent season.
    • And if you are wondering, you can’t say part or all of the word. Doing this will automatically cancel the clue and force the contestant to give another word clue.
  • Retool: Season 2 saw a few gameplay changes.
    • The number of people on each team was cut down from four to three, making it easier to space everyone out in the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
    • As mentioned above, contestants were now allowed to pick their categories.
    • Round 2 was played very differently. When the team captain selects one of the four categories, they see a list of eight words in it. They then remove one word from the list, then have 60 seconds to convey the remaining seven words to their teammates. If the teammates make three incorrect guesses on a single word, that word is considered dead and the next word will be played. Passing is not allowed, and getting all seven words won bonus points. The round ends after each team plays one category.
  • Timed Mission: All rounds have timers on them, which is a given plus for the show.
