Sparks

    General/Player Characters
Sparks are otherworldly beings that have come to Feral en masse, drawn by the planet's energy. Each one has a gem on their forehead (also called a Spark), which is believed to be a piece of a long-gone star. They are beings of imagination, being able to shapeshift into various forms; if they remain passionate and creative, they have the potential to live forever.

Every Player Character has/is a Spark, and can become one of nine species: Kitsune, Senri, Dragon, Jackalope, Werewolf, Kirin, Shinigami, Phoenix, and Fae. Certain NPCs are also Sparks.

  • Asian Fox Spirit: One of the playable avatars. Kitsune are described as being energetic, fond of mischief, and having a passion for living life to the fullest.
  • The Fair Folk: Fae are a possible species for your avatar to be. They are described as being difficult to trust and fond of outwitting people, but valuable allies once one understands the rules they operate by.
  • Fantasy Kitchen Sink: Sparks can take the form of kitsune, shinigami, jackalopes, dragons and others.
  • From a Single Cell: Sparks can heal off any damage they receive as long as their gem of the same name remains intact. Damage to the actual Spark is stated to have the possibility of making healing difficult, along with other negative side-effects.
  • Heart Drive: Sparks are described as being the "essence" of all creatures with them. Sparks are stated to be able to persist indefinitely if they never get damaged; while they can retreat into themselves to heal damage sustained to their bodies, damage to the actual Spark can mess with their form and powers.
  • Mix-and-Match Critters: The Kitsune avatar has head, tail, and leg options that make it look like a griffon and nothing forces you to use said body mods all together, so it's possible for a Kitsune to have a bird head but otherwise look like a fox.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: Sparks are capable of living indefinitely, so long as they stay passionate and creative.
  • Shinigami: One of the playable avatars. Shinigami are lanky humanoids with jagged teeth and long claws, and are always floating.
  • Youkai: Two of the possible avatars are a kitsune and a shinigami.

    Queens Aradia and Delilah
The rulers of Feral. Two thousand years prior to the game's events, their arrival on the planet revitalized its magic. Ever since, the life force of themselves and the planet have been connected; if the planet loses substantial amounts of power, the Queens may fall into a deep sleep so the planet can heal. At present, they've been slumbering for 150 years and nobody knows the reason they fell asleep in the first place.

  • The Ghost: Despite their castle towering over City Fera (with players later being allowed to enter the castle grounds) and many older characters speaking fondly of them, the queens have been asleep in their chambers for decades and are only now beginning to show signs of awakening.

NPC Species

Kobolds

    General
A mammalian species native to Feral. These warrior-like people thrive when there's strife, but can become fixated on trivial disagreements in more peaceful times.
  • Our Kobolds Are Different: Kobolds are fur-covered humanoids that come in several earthy tones, and have vaguely dog-like faces. Their eyes are also solid white. They are a widespread species, found in every area except Sunken Thicket. The Blood Tundra has a subspecies called Blood Kobolds, which differ from the standard variety in that their eyes are red, they can have white fur, and have never been seen outside of the Tundra.

Blood Kobolds

A sub-population of Kobolds that only live in the Blood Tundra. As a whole, they are relatively unfazed by any horrors the Tundra contains and often act in an unsettling fashion.
  • Conditioned to Accept Horror: The Blood Kobolds have noticeably dulled reactions to various phenomena in the Blood Tundra, such as eating the dried veins that sprout up from the ground like jerky or keeping aggressive vexrats as pets. Their leader Luka keeps up a cheerful attitude, even when dealing with scenarios that should have a large emotional impact on them.
(player tells Luka their missing merchant friend has been reduced to a skeleton)
Luka: Oh - this is him? Well, that explains everything! Thank goodness, I thought something horrible had happened. I suppose I lost track of time. Well, no matter. I have many friends that are skeletons!

Komodori

    General
A reptilian species that have been on Feral for a couple millennia. These hardy beings make the most of their lives by seeking out adventure.

Myrefolk

    General
An amphibious species that has existed on Feral for an incredibly long time. These long-lived beings were the first to found schools of magic and record the planet's history.

Seraphs

    General
A species of humanoids descended from the first Sparks to arrive on Feral after the Queens. While they are often self-centered trend chasers, some choose to seek their own passions.
  • Our Angels Are Different: Seraphs are tall, thin humanoids with pale faces and can have a third eye. Interestingly enough, not all of them have wings; those that do have either feathered or leathery ones. They wear robes that cover most of their bodies, with some individuals also sporting high collars. Seraphs have not been shown to have any special powers, though they can live for roughly half a century.

Twiggles

    General
A species of tiny creatures that came to Feral from other worlds. Coming in orange and blue, these beings are industrious and aim to hone their craft to perfection.

    Govan Vincent
A painter who's featured in the "Hello Yell-o" quest. He's renowned in the art world, but very few people are aware that he's a Twiggle. He tasks the player with picking up one of the ingredients for his yellow paint.
  • Odd Name Out: Govan Vincent is the only Twiggle whose name doesn't start with the letter T, as well as being the only one with a surname. This is because Govan is a Shout-Out to Vincent van Gogh and the only other named Twiggle at the time of his first appearance was Twigla.

    Twigla
The owner of her own workshop, where players can purchase furniture for their Sanctuaries and play Twiggle Builders. She is beloved by the other Twiggles, as she's unusually large for her kind.

Valkeri

    General
A species of humanoid birds that are relativity recent arrivals to Feral. These storytellers and artists have spread across the planet, seeking to witness and record events.
  • Bird People: Valkeri are feathery humanoids with barn owl-esque faces and clawed hands. Some aspects of their culture are reminiscent of Egyptian culture, like their totems looking like sarcophagi.
