Tropes

  • Ate His Gun: After John saves Quiet by throwing a hatchet into Stone's face, Quiet offers him his gun and tells him that he can either die slow or die quick. He's last seen putting the gun to his temple before a gunshot is heard.
  • Big Badass Rig: One of the cars in the final battle is Juggernaut, one of the rigs from the Convoy.
  • Bury Your Gays: Subverted. Amber gets shot in the neck and then her truck gets blown up. She survives.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: During the big car fight, Sweet Tooth drives by John and Quiet to express his happiness at seeing that they worked things out and to compliment their new car. They in turn compliment him on his flaming hair.
  • Cruel to Be Kind: When John refuses to enter New San Francisco without Quiet, Quiet pulls a gun on him and demands that he enter the city without her. When John tries to approach her, she shoots him in the shoulder and tells the assembled guards to take him in for medical treatment.
  • Dragged by the Collar: A terrifying variation. After Sweet Tooth murders Mike, he is shown dragging Stu by the wrist while Stu is sitting, screaming in terror.
  • Eye Scream: Stu shoots Sweet Tooth in his left eye, bringing him closer to his appearance in Twisted Metal (2012).
  • Fish out of Water: John struggles to adjust to the safe, luxurious life of New San Francisco. He might be a badass driver but he can't ride a bike. He assumes a pizza delivery guy is another milkman and pays him in bullets. When he asks for paper currency, John assumes he just wants tinder for a campfire.
  • Flipping the Bird: When Stu first sees John and Quiet, he flips them off for abandoning him in "NTHLAW1".
  • Homing Projectile: Twister's race car is so fast it's able to outrun one of these and trick it into hitting the Curtis siblings.
  • Ironic Echo: When Quiet has Stone at her mercy, she tells him "I'm gonna give you a tough choice", just like he said to her and her brother in the first episode.
  • Mythology Gag: One scene shows Raven putting together a Voodoo Doll, which the character used in her ending from Twisted Metal: Black.
  • Pin-Pulling Teeth: Carl is seen pulling a pin out of a grenade this way at the start of the episode.
  • "Psycho" Strings: These accompany the introduction of Dollface and her gang.
  • Punctuated Pounding: Sweet Tooth jumps onto the hood of Stone's car, punching the windshield while yelling "You! Took! Everything! From! Me!"
  • Readings Are Off the Scale: Twister goes so fast while outrunning a homing missile her speedometer shows an error message.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: When Stone has Quiet at gunpoint, he gives her a speech about how people come to him wanting to be protected when what they really want is to be kept in line. Unimpressed, Quiet fires back with a speech of her own.
Quiet: You talk so much. All this talk about rules and laws, it's all bullshit. You're just a sad, lonely man, and you think you're in control.
    Stone: I am in control.
Quiet: No. You're just the one holding the gun.
  • Say My Name: After Stu and Mike bail on Sweet Tooth, Sweet Tooth screams "Stubert!"
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: The mysterious package John risked his life to bring to Raven is a pint of ice cream. And Calypso gave her the wrong flavor.
  • Shoot Your Mate: Sweet Tooth forces Stu to shoot Mike. Stu shoots Sweet Tooth instead.
  • Title Drop: Raven when she forces John to enter Calypso's tournament.
Raven: You're gonna help me win, John, and you're gonna do it by getting behind the wheel and turning every car and contestant that crosses your path into nothing but a flaming pile of twisted metal.
  • Wronski Feint: Watts does this with a homing missile, leading it into the path of the Lawmen. Although Agent Stone is able to swerve out of the way, Carl and Jamie aren't as lucky.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: After all of their misadventures the past season, Stu and Mike are shown roasting hot dogs at a campfire, having found a peaceful home and female companions (albeit plastic ones). Then Sweet Tooth shows up and kills Mike before dragging Stu off to places unknown.
