Go To

Airdate: 1990

When Bentley's family moves to the Evergreen Forest, Lisa struggles with adapting to her new home. Meanwhile, after being fired by Cyril, the Pigs find a new job at Mr. Knox's TV studio.

Moving In! contains examples of:

  • An Aesop: You may not always be prepared for the future, but your friends and family will help you through it.
  • Anguished Outburst: Depressed about leaving her old life behind, Lisa lashes out at her family at the dinner table, selfishly claiming that no one cares about her feelings and blaming her father for losing his old job. She then runs off crying, saying she hopes her father doesn't get the new job, and stays in her room, refusing to come out or talk to her parents.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: During their basketball game, Lisa tells Bert that basketball requires cooperation, to which Bert asks "Oh, kinda like a family, right?". As Lisa answers, she starts to feel guilty about her outburst earlier in the episode.
  • Artistic License – Animal Care: George bakes a Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake Supreme for Chef Surprise, which he mentions is his daughter Lisa's favorite dessert. In Real Life, raccoons can't digest the chemicals found in chocolate and consumption would result in vomiting and/or death.
  • Between My Legs: As Lisa joins Bert's basketball game, the shot frames him between her legs as she dribbles the ball in front of him.
  • Characterisation Click Moment: While "Spring Fever!" primarily established Lisa's nicer qualities, this episode establishes her moody, responsible, and athletic side.
  • Continuity Nod: A toy from the Mudman comics is advertised in a box of cereal that Bentley wants but can't get.
  • Distinction Without a Difference: When the Pigs talk to Mr. Willow about getting unemployed:
Pig One: As a result of recent cutbacks, we find ourselves available for gainful employment.
Pig Three: But we'd settle for a job.
  • Food Fight: A pie fight breaks out on the set of Chef Surprise after the Pigs accidentally disrupt its taping.
  • Foreshadowing: An early hint that Lisa is taking the move harder than Bentley is when Bert feels sympathy for Bentley and Lisa rolls her eyes and sarcastically says "Yeah, poor little Bentley.", as if to say "What about me?".
  • Free Prize at the Bottom: At Willow's General Store, Bentley wants a box of cereal when he sees that it's advertising a Mudman toy inside it, but Lisa doesn't allow him to get it because they have a strict budget to stick to until their father gets accepted into his job.
  • Girls Love Chocolate: Downplayed. George mentions that Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake Supreme is Lisa's favorite dessert, but chocolate is only one part of it.
  • Happier Times Montage: In her room, Lisa reminisces about all the good times she had with her old friends, which makes her all the more sad to leave her old hometown.
  • Immaturity Insult: When Bentley and Lisa argue over which bedrooms are theirs, Lisa tells Bentley that he's being a big baby.
  • Jerkass Realization: During a friendly game of basketball, Bert tells Lisa that a family requires cooperation just like basketball, which makes her realize how rude she's been to her own family.
  • Moving Angst: Bert feels that Bentley is having a hard time accepting his family's move, so he does his best to make him feel welcome. However, it turns out Lisa is having a harder time than Bentley, as she grows depressed over leaving her old life behind.
  • New Job Episode: Cyril fires the Pigs in this episode and they get a new job at Mr. Knox's TV studio as actors for Three Guys with a Cause. They get fired after they accidentally disrupt the taping of Chef Surprise and Cyril rehires them.
  • Parents as People: George has a few moments in the episode where he becomes nervous that his audition for Chef Surprise will be unsuccessful.
  • Pie in the Face: Cyril, the Pigs, Mr. Knox, George, and Nicole get pies thrown in their faces when a pie fight breaks out on the set of Chef Surprise.
  • Shout-Out: Cyril dismissing television as "a vast wasteland" when Cedric tries to show him that the Pigs are on Three Guys with a Cause is a reference to Newton N. Minow's "Television and the Public Interest" speech.
  • Show Within a Show: Mr. Knox's TV studio broadcasts Chef Surprise, a cooking show which George applies for, and Three Guys with a Cause, a Three Musketeers-type show which the Pigs apply for.
  • Trauma Button Ending: After witnessing a pie fight break out on the set of Chef Surprise, the Raccoons and Cedric duck underneath the table when Schaeffer brings out a pie.
