• Oh, Crap!: Casper's reaction when the Nostalgia Critic dons his Ghostbusters gear.
• Roger Rabbit Effect: One of the first instances of Doug interacting with an animated character; in this case, Casper.
• Running Gag: Jasper yelling "TIMING!"
• Song Parody: To the Michael Jackson song "Thriller".
  Critic: 'Cause this is filler! Filling up the time! An hour and a half is just too long for uncreative minds! Whoo! Whooo!
• Take That!:
  • After the submersible emerges in Casper's father's lab, the Critic compares it to Myst. "Now I just have to play four hours of boring puzzles!"
  • When all the subplots converge during the climax, the Critic says, "This movie juggles more pointless storylines than a Star Wars prequel."
• Took a Level in Jerkass: Casper is much more of a jerk than his canon self.
