Go To

The twenty-second episode of the first season of The Looney Tunes Show.

While helping Tina earn her cosmetology license, Daffy finds his true passion when he tries his hand at hairdressing. Meanwhile, Porky attends a dance class hosted by Speedy Gonzales, and Bugs disguises himself as Kathy, Porky's dance partner. Speedy ends up falling head-over-heels for "Kathy".

This episode features the "Giant Robot Love" Merrie Melodies music video.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Lola. When she thinks Bugs is cheating on her, she's hell-bent on chasing down his car...until she sees a cupcake store and pulls right in.
  • Attractive Bent-Gender: Zig-Zagged. Bugs' drag act doesn't work as much as it did in the old shorts. Some think he's an ugly woman, while others, such as Speedy Gonzales in this episode, think "she" is gorgeous. Played for laughs when it works, though
  • Blatant Lies: Upon learning who "Kathy" really is, Speedy claims he was just being nice to an ugly student that was otherwise being ignored and that he had no romantic interest in "her" whatsoever. In private, he openly weeps over this development and closes a box containing an engagement ring.
  • Chatty Hairdresser: Parodied; in this episode, Daffy styles Bugs' wig (he's Disguised in Drag) while Bugs confides the entire subplot in him. Daffy proceeds to give him Chatty Hairdresser advice. No Mythology Gag about "interesting monsters", sadly.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Lola spotted "Kathy" leaving the house and immediately leapt to the conclusion that Bugs was seeing someone else, so she secretly follows "her" around and angrily confronts Bugs. Him explicitly explaining the situation doesn't help matters, as Lola only believes him when she later sees the Unsettling Gender-Reveal.
  • Crossdresser: Both Bugs and Daffy do this in this episode; the former as Kathy to give Porky a dance partner, and the latter as Tina to take a cosmetology test.
  • Hidden Depths: This episode reveals that Daffy is an extremely talented hairdresser. He effortlessly breezes through Tina's beauty school assignments, and legitimately earns a cosmetology license on his own merits.
  • I'll Take Two Beers Too: Porky orders two of everything at Speedy's restaurant, causing Speedy to ask him if he's finally got a girl. Porky replies "No."
  • Interspecies Romance:
    • Speedy (a mouse) develops a crush on Bugs (a rabbit) in drag.
    • Near the end of the episode, Porky has a brief romance with Nancy, a human.
  • Jerkass to One: Speedy comes off as rather dismissive of Porky, to the point of calling him "Pinky" even when others say his real name out loud. This episode begins with Porky desperately looking for someone to hang out with. Bugs and Daffy are busy with their girlfriends, but Speedy tells him he has no girlfriend or plans. When Porky asks enthusiastically if he wants to hang out, Speedy nonchalantly says "not really" and just walks off.
  • Metaphorgotten: The entire "Giant Robot Love" Merrie Melodies music video is an extended version of this in song, as Daffy attempts to compare being in love to a giant robot.
  • Mirror Monologue: In the prologue, Porky has a conversation with his reflection when Bugs, Daffy, and Speedy don't want to hang out with him.
  • Mistaken for Cheating: Lola sees a woman (actually Bugs in drag) leaving Bugs' house and getting into Bugs' car and immediately assumes that Bugs is cheating on her.
  • Non-Mammal Mammaries: Tina. When Daffy uses a wig and makeup to disguise himself as her, the only visible differences were that Daffy's bill and legs are a darker shade of orange and the fake Tina was flat chested.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: Bugs upon witnessing Porky having a conversation with his own reflection.
  • Unsettling Gender-Reveal: Bugs inadvertently does this to Speedy when he reveals that he's Kathy.
