Recap / The Interns S 6 E 18

Go To

Varya brings into the hospital an injured dog, to treat it. Phil reluctantly agrees to help her after being licked by the dog, but tells that they need Lyuba's help to keep it hidden. Lyuba agrees (for the same reason as Phil) by creating a cover story about VIP client (Bykov hates VIPs, and would avoid this ward). Unfortunately, Bykov comes to complain to Kisegach (since Varya and Phil wastes time on some VIP, instead of their "normal" patients), forcing Kisegach to investigate. She almost fires both Varya and Phil... but the dog licks her, too, forcing her to join "the conspiracy". Despite their efforts, Bykov finds out anyway... and rather than punishing anyone, insists that either Varya or Phil must adopt the dog (until he found out, he though that Anastasia went insane, and is too relieved to even get angry at them); instead, it's Kisegach who does that.

Kupitman, while being drunk, somehow ended up in a night club; what's worse, his drunk antics were recorded and already uploaded on YouTube! Gleb agrees to use his connections to clean it out (and he does), but he keeps a private copy, to blackmail Kupitman into paying him for deletion of the video. Meanwhile, Semyon officially broke up with Irina, and now Lyuba wants to learn more, to his irritation; he rudely tells her to bug off, but later apologises, and accidentally spill that she's loud in bed. She promises to keep it secret, stating that it's "not interesting" as a gossip, but spreads the rumour anyway, making everyone in the hospital mock Irina. Lobanov tries to redirect the heat at himself by stating that reason for breakup was him calling Irina "Olga" in bed, but it enrages Olga, as it just makes people start speculating wether she's just as loud. Ultimately, Gleb distracts people from them by giving Lyuba recording of Kupitman, which he didn't actually delete, despite his claims.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: While being drunk, Kupitman somehow obtained a "Sex Inspector" cap and "King of Striptease" t-shirt, which means, he was at some questionable club that night. What's worse, he was recorded on video... and it's already uploaded on YouTube!
  • Animal Lover: This time, Varya bring into the hospital not-so-small dog. Why? Because the dog was injured by a car, and she wants to help it (she is a doctor after all... what? she is a human doctor? does it matter?) She even puts it into VIP (ie private) ward, which is a double no-no.
  • Easily Forgiven: When Bykov goes into the VIP ward to confront Kisegach's "important investor" and sees a dog, he's so relieved by learning that "investor" was just a cover story rather than her going insane, he can't even punish his interns for bringing a dog into hospital.
  • Funny T Shirt: After visit to some night club while being drunk, Kupitman obtained a "Sex Inspector" cap and "King of Striptease" t-shirt.
  • Gossipy Hens: Lyuba has a reputation of the main gossiper of this hospital, so when she starts interrogating Semyon about his breakup with Irina, he rudely shuts her up, thinking that she asks him with not exactly good intentions. He later apologises for this, after which Lyuba tells that there's nothing interesting to discuss: just ordinary breakup, nothing unusual. Lobanov briefly mentions that Irina is not exactly quiet in bed, but when Lyuba realises that this is unrelated to their breakup, she instantly loses interest again... or so she claims, because she tells everyone anyway. Of course, Irina considers this to be extremely dick move. Lobanov tries to switch everyone's attention to himself by telling Lyuba about calling Irina "Olga" in bed (he shout "Olya, shut up!" out of habit), but not only this does nothing to stop the first rumour (it just adds new detail to it), this also enrages Olga, since now everyone thinks that she's loud, too. Gleb solves the problem by redirecting everyone's attention to the video about Kupitman's drunk antics.
  • Instant Humiliation: Just Add YouTube!: After he attained a nigh club while being drunk, all Kupitman's antics were recorded on video and uploaded on YouTube. Gleb helps Kupitman to delete the video, but keeps a private copy, and later blackmails him to pay him for its deletion... but doesn't actually delete it, and later gives it to Lobanov, who in turn gives it to Lyuba, to distract her from himself. Gleb does return Kupitman his money, at least.
  • Licked by the Dog: Every time someone tries to insist to kick that injured dog out of the hospital, it licks their hand, forcing them to change their mind. This includes Phil, Lyuba, and Kisegach, each reacting increasingly angrier (with Kisegach outright threatening to fire Varya and Phil) before actually submitting. It seemingly fails with Bykov, but then he, instead of punishing anyone, insist that one of them must take the dog home: while they can't keep it in the hospital, kicking it out would be cruel.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Lobanov, without thinking about consequences, tells Lyuba about Irina being loud in bed, which Lyuba, despite claiming that "there's nothing interesting to spread around", still spreads around, which causes Irina to quit due to people constantly mocking her for that; Lobanov does try to distract people from Irina by redirecting their attention to himself, but it only makes things worse.
  • Put on a Bus: After Lobanov revealed to Lyuba (and Lyuba revealed to everyone that Irina is extremely loud in bed, Irina definitely wants nothing to do with Lobanov. While their breakup occur earlier, this action burned the last bridge between them, since now everyone (including Bykov) mocks her for it, constantly. In fact, now she quite likely may just quit working here at all.
  • Snowball Lie: Varya brings a dog into the hospital. First one to learn about it is Phil, whom the dog easily convinces by itself. Then they asks Lyuba for help, who (for the same reason) agrees to hide them in a VIP ward and create a cover story about VIP patient who was put here under Kisegach's order. They hoped that Bykov would avoid this patient (given his hatred for VIP patients), but instead he comes to complain to Kisegach (he thinks that she also ordered interns to prioritise the VIP patient over what Bykov assigns them to do). Initially being ready to fire interns, she gets licked too and joins the conspiracy, but insists on finding another place to keep the dog. Bykov comes into the ward at night and finds out himself, but agrees to let it slide if the dog gets taken by one of interns (ultimately, it's Kisegach who takes it instead).
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: We never learn wether Kisegach actually convinced Bykov to keep the dog or not, and if not, what happened to the dog afterwards; it wouldn't appear in subsequent episodes, nor it would be mentioned.
