Go To

Original air date: 5/10/2002 (produced in 2001)

Episode number: 11b

Timmy switches places with Cosmo and Wanda so they can each see how hard the other's life is.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Achievements in Ignorance: Cosmo tries to light candles underwater as part of dinner (reasoning that "somebody's gotta dry up all this wet food"), which Wanda exclaims should be impossible. However:
    *Timmy walks in the room*
    Timmy: Hey, guys, what's new?
Wanda: (the candles light) Um... the laws of physics?
  • Characterization Marches On: Mr. Dinkleberg seems to return Mr. Turner's animosity, as opposed to later episodes where he's an Unknown Rival.
  • Cue the Rain: When Timmy misses the school bus earlier in the episode, he notes that at least it's a nice day to walk to school. Sure enough, a thunderstorm forms from out of nowhere and starts pouring on Timmy.
  • Description Cut: When Cosmo and Wanda apologize that their mandated trip to Fairy World means they won't be able to teleport Timmy to school, Timmy says that he'll be okay as long as his dad didn't do anything stupid to his car. Cut to Timmy finding his dad in the process of converting the car into a giant robot to compete with the Dinklebergs when they did the same thing.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Timmy wishes to be a fairy, thinking he'll get to just float around and have fun all day. As it turns out, he hasn't had any of the training Cosmo and Wanda had, and can barely do anything with his magic.
  • Dodgeball Is Hell: Timmy arrives at school after missing the bus and having to walk in the rain. He's greeted to gym class by his classmates holding dodgeballs in a game of "Drys vs. Wets". As you can imagine, he's the only wet one there.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: Jorgen actually gets to act like a drill sergeant for once.
  • Epic Fail: Timmy's constant magic failures. One example would be he finally turns into a goldfish, but forgets to give himself gills.
  • Halloweentown: Timmy tries poofing to Fairy World, but instead ends up in Scary World. He meets a vampire, who scares him with a picture of his grandma's ugly feet.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Timmy gets fairy powers, and it immediately becomes obvious that he has no clue how to use them, struggling to even shapeshift.
  • Humongous Mecha: Both Mr. Turner and Mr. Dinkleberg turn their cars into giant robots and do battle.
  • Involuntary Shapeshifter: Timmy can never get his transformations right. When he finally transforms into a fish, he doesn't give himself gills.
  • Power Incontinence: Timmy can barely control his fairy powers, to the point where he can't even transform properly.
  • Running Gag:
    • Timmy going wrong with fairy magic due to not having any experience.
    • The wand-ups.
    • The fairy cow looking to go to "Dairy World".
  • Swapped Roles: The main trope of the episode.
  • The Unapologetic: Timmy had issues apologizing to Cosmo and Wanda for his wish, but Wanda accepts his apology anyway.
