The Titans decide to celebrate Halloween by visiting their old friend Pepo the Pumpkinman, and end up getting caught by the Krampus.
Tropes:
- Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Robin tries to convince the other Titans that Krampus shouldn’t be trusted because he scares children, he eats children, and…he’s friends with Santa. Although, Santa is a pretty big villain in this universe so this may actually be the most worrying thing about him.
- Big "NO!": Robin when Pepo makes the last piece of the Krampus’ puzzle fall into the fire.
- Droste Image: Krampus stands looking forlorn in front of a picture of himself with the exact same expression.
- Eat the Camera: Robin does this at the end of the episode with his sharp teeth in his new Krampus form.
- Everybody Cries: When Krampus tells them that Starfire is “baking” and they think she’s dead.
- Family Business: It turns out that being The Krampus is the family business and not something that the current Krampus ever wanted to do.
- Ghost Butler: Robin barely knocks on the door of the castle because he doesn’t want to go in, but it creaks open anyway. Once they’re all inside, it slams shut behind them.
- Gross-Up Close-Up: On Starfire’s burnt hand.
- Halloween Episode: The Titans have a Halloween adventure in the North Pole.
- Haunted Castle: Pepo suggests that they take shelter from the snow storm in a creepy castle on a hill.
- Improperly Paranoid: Robin spends the whole episode trying to convince the Titans that the Krampus is evil, but really he’s a nice guy that’s just unhappy with his career and has some strange interests.
- The Krampus: The episode's villain, who appears in the form of a green-skinned goat-demon.
- Mad Libs Catchphrase:Robin: Titans, cower in fear!
- Nobody Here but Us Statues: While running from the Krampus, the Titans pretend to be statues with Robin, Cyborg, and Raven as knights and Pepo riding Beast Boy as a horse.
- Previously on…: A melting snowman head gives a recap of the last time the Titans saw Pepo the Pumpkinman in the episode of the same name.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Krampus has red scleras with black pupils.
- The Krampus has three rules that he requires his guests to follow and, of course, the Titans break every one.
- “Do not make the mess.”
- “Do not disobey the Krampus. Ever.”
- [while pointing to a large wooden door] “Never, under any of the circumstances, go into that room.”
- Scary Shadow Fakeout: Subverted. The Titans think the shadow approaching them is “just a harmless old man,” but it ends up being the Krampus.
- Scooby-Dooby Doors: Of course! You can’t have an adventure in a Haunted Castle without a chase scene like this.
- Third-Person Person: The Krampus replaces his name for “I” when he speaks.
- Twitchy Eye: Krampus’ eyes start to twitch when the Titans find a picture of him as a happy-looking child, making it seem like he’s about to yell at them. In a Bait and Switch, he ends up crying because he misses being happy.
