Recap / Star Trek Enterprise S 03 E 20 The Forgotten

Go To

After limping along with their heavy damage, Archer has to convince Degra and Jannar that they must call off the attack on Earth.

  • Agent Scully: Jannar, who's heavily skeptical when he views Archer's evidence.
  • The Atoner: Degra starts on this path, helped by how he has to work with a family member of one of his seven million victims.
  • The Cameo: Seth MacFarlane (yes, him) gets an ass-chewing by an exhausted Trip.

  • Continuity Nod: Enterprise depends heavily on all the data and clues they've collected over the last several months in order to convince Degra.
  • Dead Person Conversation: Trip has one with Taylor in a dream.
  • Due to the Dead: Archer gives a speech to the surviving crew in the launch bay, dedicated to the eighteen crewmen they lost at Azati Prime.
"We're in bad shape, I can't deny that, but we're still in one piece. Enterprise is a tough ship. She took more than anyone could ask her to and then some, and so have all of you. I wanted to say thank you. I only wish I could thank the eighteen crewmen who were lost. Like you, they understood how important our mission is and they accepted the risks. We came into the Expanse not knowing what we'd find, with no one to rely on but ourselves, but we're going to succeed, to accomplish our mission, for everyone on Earth who's relying on us, and for the eighteen."

  • I Did What I Had to Do: Degra destroys a Reptilian scout ship in order to preserve their secret meeting.
  • Manly Tears: Trip finally breaks down from losing Elizabeth.
  • No OSHA Compliance: Somehow, the manual shutoff valves for the plasma stream are outside the ship.
  • Posthumous Character: Taylor only appears in a dream that Trip has.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Degra is persuaded a bit more easily than Jannar.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Trip is asked to dictate a letter to the parents of a Red Shirt, but even he can't remember much about her.
  • Rule of Three: It takes Trip three tries to word the letter to Taylor's parents the way he wants it.
  • Shout-Out: Trip says that it would have taken a thousand ships like Enterprise to destroy a planet, a line which appeared in A New Hope.
  • Tantrum Throwing: Trip kicks a case of Xindi power cells across a corridor while still mourning Taylor's death.

  • That's an Order!: When Malcolm starts getting baked from being too close to the plasma fire, Archer orders him to get back inside the ship. Malcolm responds by claiming that Archer's breaking up.
