Recap / SMG4's Mario Bloopers SMG4 DO NOT ENTER

Go To

OOooo...very scary.

Saiko keeps her friends from entering her forbidden room, but one day during a musical gathering, Mario's curiosity is piqued. As the party rages on, Saiko does her best to ward off the overly curious plumber, but then Mario finds his way in...

This episode is the first to feature Elsie Lovelock voicing Meggy Spletzer, as well as the debut of recurring character Kaizo Koorumaniru.

Tropes:

  • Animation Bump: The episode all around has far more scenes with fluid animation and lip-syncing than usual.
  • Berate and Switch: When Saiko is strangling Mario for discovering her secret, it appears Meggy is going to ask her to stop, only to tell Saiko that her hands are too small and aids her in trying to choke Mario.
  • Call-Back: The suspicious locked door from "She's Back" returns and is the focus of the episode.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When Saiko and Meggy both strangle Mario for all he's done in the episode, Melony joins in because she thinks it looks like fun.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: While Mario puts up a good fight, he's ultimately no match for the tougher Saiko, who easily wipes the floor with him several times.
  • Expy: The Doki Doki Literature Club! expy, Kevin's School, makes its first named appearance in this episode after having last appeared in "Doki Doki Mario Club" (not counting the episode's appearance in "Deleted").
  • Heroic BSoD: When Mario runs the game Saiko was hiding, Kaizo undergoes one when he tries to ask Saiko to show the "new player" the ropes and realizes that Saiko isn't there, causing the game to crash.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • With a little coaching from Bob and Boopkins, Melony turns out to be an incredible rapper.
    • Saiko's locked room hides the game she originated from, Kevin's School. Part of her wants to return and she can't bring herself to talk openly about it.
  • I'm Not Doing That Again: After Luigi finally coaxes her into helping him tidy up the place, Meggy declares she never wants to clean again. Cue Mario messing up the place and the Red Mist descending.
  • Jerkass Ball: While Saiko's reactions towards Mario's antics in this episode aren't too out-of-character (and justified considering the plumber was essentially trying to weasel his way into her business), seeing Meggy engage in the same behavior is quite a change, and over something that wasn't his fault, no less.
  • Lazy Bum: Meggy of all characters. Up until Luigi gets her to clean up Saiko's house, she's notably lazier than normal here, even considering sleeping a sport, something you'd expect more from Melony.
  • Musical Episode: The episode consists of Saiko performing music for her friends (or at least trying to), Bob teaching Melony to rap, and Luigi helping Meggy clean up through song.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: By convincing Meggy to help clean, Luigi ended up causing Meggy to turn on Mario for the rest of the episode when Mario was smashed into the mess they just tidied up.
  • Only Sane Man: Luigi seems to be the only one who is disturbed by the burning effigy Saiko and Meggy organized to torture Mario.
  • The Reveal: Saiko's secret room is revealed to have the Dating Sim that Boopkins pulled her out of back in "Doki Doki Mario Club", which she hid from everyone because, as much as she loves her friends, part of her wishes she could go back.
  • Shout-Out: The "Your hands are too soft scene" brings to mind a similar scene in a familiar show.
  • Skewed Priorities: Rather than helping either Mario or Saiko win, Bob decides to display his rapping skills.
