Win Those Kids' Hearts
Bakugo and Todoroki join forces with Inasa Yoarashi and Camie Utsushimi from Shiketsu High for a remedial class in order to win their Hero Licenses in which they are tasked with "winning the hearts" of elementary school children. Midoriya tries to adjust back to normal school life after the Hassaikai raid, but has trouble dealing with Aoyama's new strange behaviour.

Bakugo and Todoroki head off to the Hero Licensing testing grounds to take a remedial class in order to gain their hero licences. Their they met up with Inasa and Camie from Shiketsu High who are also taking the class after they failed the exam (Inase due to his fight with Todoroki and Camie due to Toga impersonating her during the actual exam).

Their proctor for the test is revealed to be Gang Orca who has returned to whip these troublemakers into shape. However the remedial class will be different from the exam and the four potential heroes are tasked with a different, yet no less taunting task, winning the hearts and minds of rambunctious children! The children in question are from Masegaki Elementary School and due to their powerful Quirks have no interest in listening to their teachers. The hero recrutis are tasked with stirring the hearts of these troublemakers and empathising with them.

Naturally considering the various personalities involved, things do not start on the right foot for our heroes and each initial attempt at swaying the children ends in failure. However the four eventually decide to work together and use their various powers and skills to create an elaborate ride for the children to play on which delights and calms them down.

Meanwhile up in the stands an unexpected face is shown observing the remedial course; Endeavor, who has come to All Might, who is also watching the class, for advice. Endeavor admits that it hasn't been easy to live in All Might's shadow and that he's not sure how he is supposed to be the kind of symbol that All Might was. All Might tells Endeavor that it isn't fair on him to try and live up to the same ideals that he had and that Endeavor should try being the new number one on his own terms. As Endeavor watches Shoto's contentment with the children, Endeavor thinks on his own past.

After the test is over, Endeavor goes up to Shoto and tells him that he will become a hero his son can be proud of. Inasa, seeing that Endeavor is trying to change for the better, punches himself in the face, then goes up to the hero and tells him he will be rooting for his success. A confused Endeavor thanks him for the compliment.

Meanwhile, in a short mini-arc, Yuga Aoyama tries to bond with Izuku, through such means as watching him creepily while he sleeps and leaving ominous messages written in cheese. He's not trying to give Izuku a heart attack, though- what he's trying to get across is that he understands Izuku's predicament with One for All, to an extent. Aoyama goes on to explain that he has a birth defect which makes it hard for him to control his navel laser. This is why he wears a special belt all the time (and has since he was little)- it prevents Power Incontinence leading to a Heroic RRoD (and literal incontinence). They bond over this fact and end up forming an Odd Friendship.

Tropes

  • Babysitting Episode: Variation, in that while it involves superheroes-in-training being tasked with watching a group of havoc-wreaking children, it's more of an exercise / Secret Test of Character than actual babysitting (as the authorities are off to the side observing them). However, a lot of the humor in the episode is from the Bratty Half Pints terrorizing the teens, and the exercise is all about the bond they are capable of forging with the children.
  • Bait-and-Switch: A lot of Aoyama's focus in the arc seems to be trying to paint him as shady as possible, when it's actually just him trying to reach out to Midoriya as a friend and someone who understands not having a body fit to a quirk.
  • A Day in the Limelight:
    • The four students who failed the Hero License exam; Bakugo, Todoroki, Inasa and the real Camie, all work together in this arc to pass the remedial class.
    • Endeavor gets a moment in the sun as he asks All Might what it means to be the new number one hero now that the latter is retired.
    • Aoyama gets a turn in the spotlight in this arc.
  • Commonality Connection: Aoyama ends up bonding with Midoriya during his arc by showcasing that they both possess Quirks that are unsuitable to their bodies.
  • Dream Reality Check: Inasa is so thrown by Endeavor's change in personality that he punches himself in the face to convince himself this event is real.
  • Innocuously Important Episode: While this arc seems like its mostly a brief Breather Episode meant to allow the characters who failed the initial exam a chance to gain their licenses it is significant as Endeavor finally starts to show some series character growth and begins to become more of a genuine hero after his heart-to-heart with All Might.
  • Kids Are Cruel: The students of the remedial course face a conundrum of this since the kids are so roudy. For the kids, if they are beaten, they'll only rebel against authority more. If the kids win against the students, they would feel superior. The students Take the Third Option of impressing them.
  • Out of Focus: This mini arc focuses on Bakugo and Todoroki taking the Hero Licensing Remedial Course due to failing the original exam. As a result, Deku and the rest of Class 1-A serve as background characters here.
  • Secret Test of Character: Essentially what the remedial classes are all about; to see if the heroes have the ability to understand the feelings of the people they interact with and empathize with them. Made all the more difficult since they're dealing with kids. And when one of said heroes is Bakugo, you know this might be a problem.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: The Masegaki school children weaponize their knowledge of their Quirks (which is more than Bakugo, Todoroki, and Inasa expected) and their mischievousness to fight the four students' attempts at bonding.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: This arc answers this question when we finally meet the real Camie. It turns out that she was knocked out for several days and can't remember what happened during that time while Himiko was masquerading as her. Since this discovery, Camie takes on the remedial course.
