Go To

A routine drug bust ends up a double homicide as Crockett and Tubbs have to deal with a Jamacian gang of thieves that have been targeting drug deals across Miami. The pair end up recruiting the help of a petty criminal, Neville 'Noogie' Lamont, to be able to take them down.

Crockett's divorce with his wife also becomes contested when she plans to move out of state.

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Ax-Crazy: The Jamacian gang is called out for being especially violent and ruthless by Rodriguez.
  • Bad People Abuse Animals: Antonio and Desmond used to promote dog fights according to Noogie. He's lying.
  • Berserk Button: Crockett reacts violently to the idea of letting Noogie get some amphetamines before they do a deal.
  • The Bet: Crockett makes a bet with a pair of fellow vice cops that he can make more busts in a month. The vice cops are subsequently killed when they attempt to arrest the Jamaicans.
  • Boxed Crook: Noogie is picked up for hocking stolen merchandise and decides to turn informant.
  • Cop Killer: Bobby Price and Jake Esteban are two vice cops killed by the Jamaican gang. Averted in the end with Jake managing to pull through.
  • Divorce Assets Conflict: A custody one as Crockett only becomes upset at his divorce when it becomes clear his son is leaving Florida.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Crockett has this expression when Rodriguez does some Oblivious Guilt Slinging about why the two dead cops were playing gunslinger.
  • Poke the Poodle: Noogie is a petty fence and dealer that is far from the ruthless gangsters the pair normally deal with.
  • Police Brutality: Crockett is furious with a cop for beating a confession out of a suspect, especially as it's obvious he didn't actually commit the crimes they're accused of. Subverted as he still assumes they're guilty and is worried about the case being thrown out on a technicality.
  • Prison Rape: Crockett threatens Noogie with this if he doesn't cooperate (the second time).
  • Ruthless Foreign Gangsters: The Jamacian gang is particularly violent and brutal, even shooting a kid in their backstory.
  • Scary Black Man: Desmond Maxwell proves to be one of these, contrasting to the other characters.
  • The Stool Pigeon: It doesn't take much to turn Noogie into an informant.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Crockett and Tubbs get a sudden break in the case when the crook on an unrelated bust they just brought in claims to have vital information. It turns out that the crook, overhearing them, lied in hopes of avoiding jailtime.
  • Taking the Kids: Caroline plans to leave the state with her and Crockett's son.
  • Would Hurt a Child: The Jamaican gang shot a child during one of their deals. It may or may not have been accidental.
