Go To

Liv, Clive and Ravi investigate the death of a security guard who was also a basketball coach.

  • Abusive Parents: RJ's father slaps him across the face in practice, which the victim saw.
  • Berserk Button: The normally cool, calm, and collected Clive beats the tar out of RJ's dad because he beat RJ.
  • Body Horror: A direct injection of the Utopium/Max Rager cocktail in a zombie not only kills them, but also rots their body.

  • Bullying a Dragon: RJ's dad tries pushing around Clive (a police officer), and damn was that a bad idea.
RJ's Dad: You got some balls, man! Showing up at my house, telling me how to raise my kid? [pokes Clive's chest] So how about you get back in your car and- [receives four brutal punches in the face]
Clive: Don't ever put your hands on your son again.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Clive calls Suzuki's widow to ask if he was suicidal when he went to Meat Cute.
    • Dale mentions that the cops found Alan York's hair in a meat grinder at Meat Cute.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: A righteously pissed off Clive beats RJ's dad into a pulp.
  • Death Seeker: Clive calls Suzuki's widow, asking if her husband is suicidal. She hung up. But at the end of the episode, the widow came to see Clive and says her husband may indeed be suicidal. See Wham Shot.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: Liv on basketball coach brains. She's even like this to Major!

  • Funny Background Event: While Clive's getting chewed out by the Chief, Dale's in the window behind her being silly.
  • Papa Wolf: Clive beats up RJ's dad for hitting his son.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: How Liv describes the team she and Major will be coaching.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The victim was shot directly in the heart, and Ravi can't help himself:
    • When Liv asks Major, "You know what I keep asking myself?" Major replies "Why? Why didn't the Seahawks just hand the ball to Marshawn?" This is a reference to the NFL Super Bowl IL, played in 2015, when the Seattle Seahawks (where the show is set) made a questionable decision in the final moments of the game to try to pass the ball instead of handing it to the running back, Marshawn Lynch. This cost the Seahawks the game.

    • One of the murderers is a big fan of the Hearst College basketball team.
  • Victoria's Secret Compartment: Where Rita sticks the sample of blood she snags from Liv.
  • Wham Shot: Suzuki's widow gives Clive a container from Suzuki's beer fridge that contains a piece of brain.
