Original Air Date: 15/2/2024

Sam, Jay and the remaining ghosts unravel the mystery of which ghost passed into the afterlife; Sam and Jay must relocate an owl to do construction on the barn to turn it into Jay's restaurant.

Tropes:

  • Ask a Stupid Question......: Trope variant. When Mark walks in Jay says : "Do not tell me we have a problem." To which Mark responds: "We have a problem."
  • Boomerang Bigot: Mildy though; Nancy gets offended when Pete off-handedly remarks, "Maybe it was just a Basement Ghost!" and spreads the word among those in the basement. Pete invites them upstairs, and they linger until even she had enough, saying coming upstairs was a break "from those weirdos."
  • Brick Joke: As Cholera Ghosts Stuart and Nancy walk into the living room, Stuart says he thinks the floor is made of pine, and Nancy tells him to know which wood it is or shut up. They had a similar conversation about the entrance floor support beam in "Farnesby and B".
  • Call-Back: Jay recalls the time Flower got him high and watched basketball with him.
  • Continuity Nod: When Thor threatens to burn down the barn, he mentions the time he accidentally burned down the gazebo in "Halloween."
  • Dope Slap: Downplayed. Pete, along with Hettie and Alberta, tries to tell the Cholera Ghosts it is time to go back to the basement. He begins to dither, so Hettie flicks his neck arrow, causing him to wince.
  • Grail in the Garbage: While Sam and Jay are in the barn discussing the removal of the owl, on the left in the background there appears to be a vintage vehicle. While there isn't a full view shown, it could be a horse-drawn carriage or a very early example of an automobile, so early it may steer using a tiller rather than a steering wheel. Whichever it may be, this vehicle would be of great interest to collectors, who would probably offer the Arondekars a nice sum of money for it.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Both Hetty and Alberta are pushing Pete hard to tell the Cholera Ghosts to go back to the basement. When some of them reminisce about their times with Flower, Hetty and Alberta have a change of heart and invite them to Flower's memorial service.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Thor lets the owl who he believes to be Flower go after agreeing with Sam and Jay that the happy, free-spirited woman would be miserable being trapped in a cage for the rest of her life.
  • I'll Take That as a Compliment: Trope variant. When talking to Thor about releasing the owl, Jay acknowledges that Thor comes from "a brutal culture that didn't care about the suffering of others." Thor responds with "thank you."
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Once it's confirmed that Flower is the ghost who ascended, Jay remarks "Wow! One of the main eight."
  • Losing Your Head: When Crash walks into the room, he lifts off his head. There was no point in-story for him to do this, as everybody is already aware that his head is not securely attached to his body. As Crash is rarely seen by viewers, this gesture was only done to refresh the viewers memories.
  • Lower-Deck Episode: All of the Cholera Ghosts get to come upstairs and feature prominently in the storyline before going back to the basement.
  • Nice Guy: Flower. The Cholera Ghosts tell Hetty, Pete and Alberta how Flower would regularly go down into the basement to talk with and get to know them. She also never looked down on them, nor was she judgemental, and they appreciated that, calling Flower the kindest person they ever met.
  • Noodle Incident: Cholera Ghost Creepy Dirk states: "An immersive experience with the local fauna is how I got cholera." Just what he did and what animal he did it with isn't explained.
  • Ominous Owl: The owl turns out to be very aggressive, especially towards Jay. When Jay finally releases it into the wild, it doubles back and attacks him.
  • Recurring Character: As Sam (and Jay) are checking on which ghosts are still in the house, Crash walks in and says he stuck his head (literally) in on Stephanie in the attic and confirms she's still sleeping there.
  • Reincarnation: Jay talks about reincarnation after Flower's ascension. Later, when an owl is found in the barn, Thorfinn thinks it's a reincarnated Flower, and insists that it stay in the house.
  • The Reveal: Flower is discovered to have been the one to move on, much to Thorfinn's dismay.
  • Running Gag: Trevor says that he turned down the chance to purchase stock in Buffalo Wild Wings, which is now one of the most successful restaurant chains in the world.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Jay’s reaction when Sam tells him that Thor thinks the owl that’s disrupting the barn renovation is Flower.
