Recap / Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends S3E13 "Room With a Feud"

Go To

After Pointdexter Dorkface III gets adopted, a new room becomes available to any imaginary friend who wants it. Bloo, Wilt, Eduardo, Coco, and a new imaginary friend named Peanut Butter all compete against each other to claim ownership of the new room.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Big, Thin, Short Trio: Of the three male imaginary friends, Eduardo is the Big, Wilt is the Thin, and Bloo is the Short. This episode lampshades this aspect when Mr. Herriman decides that the new room should go to the biggest, since they need the most room. Bloo (who is the smallest) thinks that Mr. Herriman meant "Biggest for your size", and when Wilt tells Bloo that he (Wilt) is the biggest, Eduardo tells him (Wilt) that he (Wilt) is the tallest, and he (Eduardo) is the biggest.
  • Brick Joke:
    • At the beginning of this episode, when Pointdexter gets adopted, Bloo asks for his paddle ball. When Pointdexter asks Bloo if he already has 100 of them, Bloo tells them that they're all broken. In a later scene, when Bloo challenges Wilt, Eduardo and Coco to a paddleball contest to claim ownership of the new room, Bloo has a hard time hitting the ball and says "He lied to me, he said this one wasn't broken!"
    • One of the ways that Mac and the imaginary friends try driving Peanut Butter out of the new room is by unleashing a cluster of spiders in it. This backfires because Peanut Butter loves spiders. Near the end of the episode, one of the spiders spooks Eduardo, prompting Wilt to move in to set the spider free and keep Eduardo company.
  • Can't Live with Them, Can't Live Without Them: After Eduardo, Wilt and Coco all move into the new room, Bloo is happy to have the old room all to himself, because he never has to share with anyone. However, he soon finds it lonely without his friends, and ends up moving into the new room with them.
  • Dagwood Sandwich: One of the ways that Bloo, Wilt, Eduardo and Coco all try to claim ownership of the room is by making these kind of sandwiches and then eating them.
  • Drawing Straws: Near the end of the episode, Madame Foster uses this tactic to decide who gets the new room, with the friend who draws the shortest straw getting it. Eduardo is the one who ends up getting the new room, but Wilt, Coco, and Bloo soon move into it as well. Also, Bloo draws a picture of a straw.
  • Dudley Do-Right Stops to Help: When Bloo, Wilt, Eduardo and Coco race to the new room to claim ownership of it, Bloo trips Peanut Butter so that Wilt will help him back up. Wilt does so reluctantly, but still manages to make it to the new room due to knowing a secret passageway.
  • Fitness Nut: Peanut Butter is always seen wearing a purple track suit. Bloo, Wilt, Eduardo and Coco are all exhausted after chasing him around the house for 45 minutes, but Peanut Butter is still in great shape and thanks the imaginary friends for such a wonderful workout, saying they should do it every day.
  • Gone Horribly Right: When Mac decides that Peanut Butter gets the new room (having just arrived and thinking that the other imaginary friends are being punished for something they did wrong), he and the imaginary friends work together to get Peanut Butter to move out. They do such things as play in a band after he asks them to keep it down because he's trying to read, rip up the wallpaper, shorten the bed, spread garbage all over the room, and release a cluster of spiders. These all backfire because Peanut Butter loves band music and spiders, hated the wallpaper, and thought the bed was too long. Plus, the kid who imagined him was a real slob, and the garbage made him feel like he was at home.
  • Homework Slave: This episode begins with Pointdexter, an imaginary friend who is a living calculator, getting adopted by Moose, a sterotypical-looking bully who wants him to do his homework.
  • Intentional Mess Making:
    • After Eduardo puts Bloo in a trash can for trying to claim ownership of the new room, Bloo returns to the new room in the trash can and spreads garbage all over the floor to convince the imaginary friends that only he deserves to live in a room as messy as it. This backfires because Wilt says that he doesn't deserve to live in the new room if he can't keep it clean.
    • When Peanut Butter moves into the new room, Mac and the imaginary friends trash the new room by tearing up the wallpaper, letting a cluster of spiders loose, and spreading garbage all over the floor. These all backfire, as Peanut Butter hated the wallpaper, loves spiders, and the kid who imagined him was a real slob, so all the garbage reminded him of home.
  • Jerkass Ball: While Wilt is normally the nicest guy in the show, the prospect of a room that actually accomodates his height in this episode causes him to grow notably more spiteful and selfish.
  • Medium Awareness: Peanut Butter says that he should be allowed to participate in the competition for the new room that Bloo, Wilt, Eduardo, and Coco are having because he's a member of the house and asks, "What's this, The Wilt, Ed and Coco Show?"
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: When a basketball-themed room with high ceilings and a ten-feet long bed becomes available to anyone who wants it, Wilt grabs the Jerkass Ball and competes against Eduardo, Coco, and Bloo for it. When Bloo tries to talk him out of it by telling him that if he takes it, it'll hurt his feelings, Wilt tells him he thought about that and decided he doesn't care (lampshaded in that even he's surprised to feel that way about it). It is also revealed in this episode that in all the years Wilt's lived at Foster's, he's never had his own room.
  • Pet the Dog: Despite fighting for the new room and wanting to have his own room, Bloo genuinely misses Coco, Eduardo, and Wilt when they all move out of the old room and finds it lonely.
  • Portrait Painting Peephole: The basketball poster in the new room has eyeholes in the basketball player's eyes. Bloo uses these to spy on Peanut Butter after he moves into the new room.
  • Status Quo Is God: Eduardo is the one who ends up winning the new room, but Wilt, Coco, and Bloo all end up moving into it as well; Wilt to keep Eduardo company after a spider spooks him, Coco to get away from Bloo's snoring, and Bloo because he found the old room lonely without his friends.
  • The Stinger: In the credits, Mr. Herriman announces to all the friends at Foster's that a new vacant room is available to whomever can find where he has hidden the key to the room. As all the friends rush and tear apart the house to find it, Mr. Herriman thinks it went rather well, unlike Frankie who facepalms.
  • Spiders Are Scary: Eduardo enjoys sharing a room with Bloo, Wilt, and Coco, but wants to move into the new room for the purpose of getting away from the spiders, as he finds them scary. When Peanut Butter gets the new room, one of the ways the imaginary friends try driving him out of it is by letting a cluster of spiders loose in the new room, but this backfires, as Peanut Butter loves spiders. Near the end of the episode, Eduardo gets the new room, but is suddenly spooked by one of the spiders. Wilt moves in to set the spider free and to keep Eduardo company.
  • Taking Advantage of Generosity: When Frankie finds the kitchen a mess from Bloo, Wilt, Eduardo and Coco making and eating sandwiches to claim ownership of the new room, Wilt declares that the first one to clean the kitchen gets the new room. Frankie is amazed and uses this tactic to get the imaginary friends to do her chores so she doesn't have to.
  • You Answered Your Own Question: When Wilt tells Mr. Herriman that he wants the new room, Herriman asks him "Master Wilt, why would you desire a room with such tall ceilings, a long bed, and... basketball wallpaper?" before realizing the room is perfect for him.
