Recap / Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends S1E8 "World Wide Wabbit"

Go To

While making video interviews of the adoptees to help them find a home, Mac and Bloo secretly tapes a performance of Mr. Herriman doing his "Funny Bunny" song to Madame Foster. Which later get spread across the house by Bloo and Frankie, and eventually being uploaded to ViewTube and becoming viral overnight.

Tropes include:

  • Bullying a Dragon: Mac believes this is in effect for Frankie, asking her if she's worried about her job. Frankie is unconcerned, since she belives Madame Foster would never let Herriman fire her. Mac points out that he won't have to fire Frankie to get back at her.
Mac: If you think he's tough on you now; if he finds out you're behind this, he's gonna make your life miserable!
Frankie: (Gasp!) Shutupshutupshutup! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! You're right! If he finds out, I'm dead!
  • Call-Back: Madame Foster calling Mr. Herriman her "Funny Bunny" from the pilot movie comes back as a plot point.
  • Characterization Marches On: Mac is seen at one point eating cookies, but it's later revealed in Season 2's "Partying is Such Sweet Soiree" that should he eat sugar, he becomes a crazy lunatic. Those cookies were possibly sugar-free, but still, makes you wonder...
  • Crazy-Prepared: Frankie - in a short amount of time - was able to save the master file by burning it to DVD.
  • Dirty Old Woman: When Eduardo yells at Wilt and Coco to take off their clothes, specifically the Funny Bunny merchandise they're wearing, Madame Foster lets out a big "Yeah!", and takes off her sweatshirt and waves it about.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Herriman in this episode shows he genuinely loves Madame Foster and children in general, but prefers to keep it hidden.
  • Holding in Laughter: After the video spreads in the house, Frankie and the other friends watch it, they can't help but snicker whenever they hear Herriman speak, especially since they're imagining "-ity" being added to most of his words.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: After finding out that he's become an Internet celebrity thanks to a viral video, an angry Mr. Herriman announces he's going out for "a stall, stiff glass of carrot juice"
  • Instant Humiliation: Just Add YouTube!: It's bad enough that everyone in the house saw the video, but when it gets uploaded to ViewTube, soon Herriman is hounded by reporters wanting to interview "Funny Bunny".
  • Instant Web Hit: The "Funny Bunny" video.
  • Learned from the News: How Herriman finds out about the "Funny Bunny" video.
  • Not So Above It All: Frankie laughs along with everyone else and happily works with Bloo to merchandise Mr. Herriman's "Funny Bunny" routine. She then returns to normal when Mac explains that her job will be tougher if he finds out, she then panics and has a similar conversation with Bloo.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Frankie has one when Mac tells her Mr. Herriman will make her life a nightmare if he finds out about the video.
    • Bloo has one thanks to Frankie after the video goes viral and now has merchandise all throughout the house.
Frankie: Listen, blob boy! If the rabbit finds out about this, he's gonna make my life miserable. And if he makes my life miserable, I'm gonna make YOUR LIFE MISERABLE! CAPICHE?!
      Bloo: (fearfully) Capi… capi… yes!
    • Around the third act, Mac, Bloo and Frankie have one when the station's news team is in front of the house to do an interview and tells them they're live! And they had just sent Herriman to watch the news!
  • Only Sane Man: Mac is the only person who, while finding the video funny, wants it deleted thinking Herriman will be embarrassed.
  • Technologically Blind Elders: Herriman shows to be completely hopeless when it comes to modern tech. When he learns that there is a file with embarrassing footage of him, he goes straight for the filing cabinets. Then after learning the file was on Frankie's computer, he dumps the whole thing in the trash, not realizing that it was already uploaded to the internet. He even thinks that the internet is an actual net.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: In-Universe. After finding out that people genuinely enjoyed his Funny Bunny routine, he tries to update it for modern audiences, not understanding that what people found joy in was the charming and sweet (and funny) Nursery Rhyme like feeling of the original. It's implied that afterwards the reaction was negative as there are no further mentions from the public of "Funny Bunny" (or perhaps like all instant web hits, it faded after a few months, either way it's implied that the hip hop update never caught on). Although in a later episode, they mention the original (reuploaded to ViewTube) has over 12 million views, so perhaps the original Funny Bunny routine still was popular.
  • Tranquil Fury: Subverted. When Herriman sees footage of the viral clip, there's a short Beat before he screams; actually "bellows" would be a better word, so loud he causes the screen to shake violently.
Herriman: WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!?!
  • What Were You Thinking?: Frankie asks this verbatim to Bloo after finding out that not only did he upload the Funny Bunny video to the internet, which almost immediately went viral, but he made an online merchandise store and linked it back to Foster's official website, that now has over 20 million hits.
Frankie: Bloo… WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!
Bloo: I was thinking it was funny!
