  • Call-Forward: Ulrich meets Egon Tiedemann in 1953 and repeats the line from the Metal song that Tiedemann chided him about. Again, Tiedemann asks him whether he is a satanist.
  • Catapult Nightmare: Again, Jonas has a nightmare and wakes up that way.
  • Dramatic Irony: This episode makes the conversation between Ulrich and his father this, as Tronte knew Mads is dead.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: Before Jonas goes to the hospital in 1986 to take Mikkel back to his time, he meets up with Charlotte, who calls him the stranger due to his cryptic conversation.
  • Holding Hands: Doris and Agnes do this when the passage connecting the timelines begins to form.
  • Internal Reveal: Charlotte finds about time travel and when Ulrich stuck himself into.
  • My Future Self and Me:
    • Helge talks to his past self and inquires him to stop working for Noah.
    • It is revealed that the stranger is actually Jonas's future self.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Noah muses Jonas's older self's attempt to destroy the wormhole caused it in the first place, as he notes the cesium in it is not the sufficient amount for any damage.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Jonas's attempt to return Mikkel back ended up in him getting kidnapped.
  • Police Brutality: The police officers in 1953 beat up Ulrich when he won't tell where Helge is.
  • Red Herring: Tronte and Peter clearly didn't have anything to do with the kidnappings.
  • The Reveal: The stranger is Jonas's future self.
  • Smash to Black: When Jonas gets knocked out by the girl from the future, the screen cuts to black.
  • Speak Ill of the Dead: Jonas snaps when Bartosz says to him that he is just as sick as his father was.
  • Stable Time Loop: It's implied Egon picked up his hatred for 1986!Ulrich and the Satanists with his meeting with the older Ulrich.
    • Even though Jonas burned Michael's letter, Ines provides it to Jonas, whose older self will give it back to Jonas, who burned it.
    • Adult Jonas's attempt to destroy the wormhole to stop his horrendous future... is what is implied to begin Jonas's journey as the Stranger.
  • Temporal Suicide: Helge attempts to kill his 1986 self when the latter won't stop working for Noah. He fails and dies himself.
  • Time Crash: Whatever happened when kid Helge and Jonas in the room touch each other's fingers in 1953 and 1986, sending Helge to 1986 and Jonas to The Future.
  • Title Drop: Noah name-drops the series title with his speech to Bartosz about Claudia and her group are 'The Dark' and Noah and his group are 'The Light'.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Noah states Claudia is using The Stranger aka Jonas for her own ends.
    • It's also implied Noah is doing the same to Bartosz.
  • Wham Line: Two of them actually, but these two could be one of the biggest in the entire series:
    • This one is spoken by the Stranger, revealing who he really is. "I am you. My name is Jonas Kahnwald. I have sent the letter to you. Or I should say, to me."
    • "Welcome to the future." cue Pistol-Whipping.
  • Wham Shot: Ines brings out Michael's suicide note, which is completely intact.
  • What Year Is This?:
    • In 1986, Jonas asks Charlotte what year it is to make sure he ended up where he wanted to.
    • At the end of the episode, Jonas walks out of the forest to find himself in a radioactive exclusion zone. He meets a group of armed people on a vehicle and asks them what year it is while a big drone flies over them. He doesn't get an answer except "Welcome to the future".
