Ice cream trucks are no longer stopping for children; the Kids Next Door want to know why. Their investigation leads them to the ice cream factory, and a confrontation with the Delightful Children From Down The Lane.

Now loading tropes:

  • Accidental Hero / Big Damn Heroes: While the others are getting on with the mission, Numbuh 3 wanders off in search of a heater because she's shivering in the cold factory. She finds one and turns it up full just as the rest of the team is on the verge of defeat, and the heater melts the ice cream monster.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Numbuh 3.
  • Batman Gambit: The ice cream man interrogated by the KND tries excuses, but gives in easily and tells them the password. However, he didn't give in because of fear. It's because he knew of the surprise in the factory that awaited the KND.
DCFDTL: "So, did you give them the password?"
Interrogated Ice Cream Man (evilly): "Oh, I gave it to them alright."
  • Book Ends: The episode begins and ends with the two kids who wanted to get some ice cream.
  • Establishing Character Moment: This was the first episode of KND to air, and thus sets up Sector V and their characterizations for the rest of the series:
  • Food Eats You: The Delightful Children have created a giant ice cream monster with a taste for chilren.
  • Impractically Fancy Outfit: Numbuh 3's pretty, party dress does little to keep her warm in the chilly factory.
  • Inventional Wisdom: Seriously, who thought it'd be a good idea to put a heater in a factory that produces a product that’s only made in the cold?
  • I Want My Mommy!: When the Delightfuls' ice-cream monster has him pinned to a wall and is towering over him, Numbuh One quietly squeaks, "Mommy!"
  • Lampshade Hanging: The Delightful Children are just as dumbfounded as the audience might be as to why there's a heater in an ice cream factory.
  • Lethally Stupid: Numbuh 4 is actually stupid enough to leave the wheel while the truck is still running just to tell Numbuh 1 about the roadblock instead of turning the truck around or at least stopping it.
  • Meaningful Echo: When they're confronted by the Delightful Children from Down the Lane, Numbuh 5 complains that the set up was "too easy". Then at the end, with the monster being defeated and the kids enjoying their pseudo-ice cream party, Numbuh 5 cheerfully accepts that the mission was "too easy".
  • Not So Above It All: At end of episode, after everyone is swept away by the wave of melted ice cream, Numbuh 3 starts chanting "Party! Ice Cream Party!". Then the rest of Sector V, along with the two kids from the beginning of the episode, decide to join her.
  • Properly Paranoid: Numbuh 5 thinks that they got their mission went too easy, since the ice-cream man doesn't hesitate with giving up the password followed by them ending up in an empty factory. She's proven right when the Delightful Children make their presence known to the KND.
  • Wham Line: The KND evaded every obstacle, making their mission easy. Then the Delightful Children drop this ominous line that warns them of a very nasty surprise.
DCFDTL: "Us eat the ice cream? Oh, dear no. I'm afraid the ice cream will be eating you."
  • Who Is Driving?: When Numbuh 4 tells 1 that they're coming to a roadblock:
Numbuh 1: Quick, tell Numbuh 4 to turn the truck around.
    Numbuh 4: I am Numbuh 4.
    Numbuh 1: Then who's driving-?!
[The truck drives through a guard railing]

Codename Kids Next Door [Roadblock Problem]

Scene from "Codename: Kids Next Door" Ep 2A - "Operation ISCREAM". Sector V attack one of the ice cream trucks to grill the driver on where they're keeping the ice cream from kids. The truck soon comes upon a roadblock and needs to turn around. Except one problem with that...

How well does it match the trope?
