Go To

During a surprise dorm inspection, Odd begs Yumi to hide Kiwi at her parents’ house. The young lady reluctantly agrees… but in turn passes responsibility for the dog over to her brother Hiroki when she is called by Jeremy to go off on another mission. Indeed, Jeremy has found another Replika. Once the Skid is set up in the Replika, Yumi and Odd are energized to a location… out of this world. But Odd doesn’t seem to notice: his mind is elsewhere, worrying about his dog…

This episode contains examples of:

  • Bait-and-Switch: Odd and Yumi fully expect Yumi's parents to hate Kiwi, but when Hiroki tells all, it seems that they couldn't be happier, which surprises both of them.
  • Continuity Nod: Odd questions if Hiroki is able to dogsit Kiwi by bringing back the fact that he threw away his Tamaguchi "Jean-Pierre" in False Lead, way back in season 3.
  • Embarrassing Old Photo: During the surprise inspection in the dorms, Jim finds in Sissi's wardrobe some pictures of Mr. Delmas partying, and in what seem to be school-related events from when Sissi was little that leave him embarrassed.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: Hiroki and Yumi's parents call Kiwi: "Lichi", which is a similar name for a different sort of fruit (one that is also common in Japanese culture too).
  • Friendly Fire: As William attacks the Skid, Aelita comes out onto the Replika and aims an Energy Field at William, which he dodges, causing it to hit the Skid behind him instead.
  • Kill It with Fire: The Spike Balls of Doom that guard the space station can produce enough heat to melt one of the locks of the station.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: William, after being outmatched by Odd and Yumi, as well as XANA's plan in tatters, just makes a retreat instead of fighting for any longer.
  • Make It Look Like an Accident: Jérémie instructs Yumi and Odd to dispose of the space station's supercomputer in this fashion, afraid that making it look like the computer was intentionally destroyed would raise suspicion unnecessarily (and probably create an international incident in the process).
  • Shout-Out: The episode's title is a parody of the classic sci-fi novel-turned-film 2001: A Space Odyssey, fittingly the Lyoko Warriors are sent into space during this episode and arrive at the International Space Station.
  • Space Station: The International Space Station (touted as "New" by Jérémie) is where Yumi and Odd are teleported to.
  • Spike Balls of Doom: Three of these defend the International Space Station taken over by XANA.
  • Suicidal "Gotcha!": While fighting William, Aelita jumps off the platform they're standing on, flying back up on her wings and catching him offguard.
  • Summon to Hand: Aelita is able to disarm William, and steps on his sword to prevent him from using it, but he is able to quickly get back his sword doing this, causing her to slip and giving him the upper hand.
  • Thrown Out the Airlock: How Odd gets rid of XANA's spike balls.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: After Yumi and Odd come back to the Replika to rescue Aelita, William tries to fight them for a little bit, but finding himself outmatched, eventually jumps off a platform down into the depths of the Replika. It's one of the few times when he wisely retreated.
