Patrick Belpois, Jeremy’s cousin, is a new student enrolled at Kadic Academy. Unlike the rest of the Lyoko Warriors, who find the newcomer interesting and charming, Jeremy has always detested his cousin and makes this clearly understood. Sissi takes advantage of the Belpois family feud to try and uncover the secret of our heroes. But soon XANA attacks and things become even more complicated.
This was also the last episode to air on Cartoon Network in the US as the rest of the series would be released on their video service.
This episode contains examples of:
- Always Someone Better: Jérémie feels this way about Patrick and talks about how, at summer camp, he would always act "so cool" and steal his friends away from him. Aelita suggests he maybe didn't realize what he was doing and to give him a second chance. Given what we see of Patrick later on, it seems that Aelita was correct.
- Big "NO!": Jeremie cries out one when XANA!Herve cracks the firewall protecting the Skid from taking any more damage.
- Big Word Shout: Patrick cries out "GERONIMO" as he tackles XANA!Sissi on the flight of stairs
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Subverted. At first, we're led to believe that Patrick is this, but he turns to be a genuinely Nice Guy. Sissi, by contrast, plays this straight, from Patrick's perspective of course-the audience knows she's up to no good.
- Extreme Doormat: Probably the actual flaw of Patrick and the root of his prior conflict with Jérémie. As the episode showcases, he's nice and agreeable...but to a point where he doesn't quite consider what is actually going on. He didn't realize that Jérémie's old friends had flocked over to him, and likewise was willing to give Sissi a fair shake despite her clear hostility and spitefulness towards the Lyoko Warriors, which XANA immediately took advantage of to cause far worse havoc.
- Hanlon's Razor: Jérémie believes that Patrick deliberately took away his old friends. As it turns out, the dude's a legitimate Nice Guy and a bit of a doormat who didn't realize what he'd done. Considering Jérémie's lack of social skills, it's not surprising he came to that conclusion and still holds a grudge.
- Heartbeat Soundtrack: Briefly, as Patrick is dying, but Aelita launches a return to the past Just in Time.
- Heel Realization: Jérémie changes his poor opinion towards Patrick upon realizing his cousin is a genuine Nice Guy. Sadly, after the Return to the Past, Patrick isn't going to be attending Kadic after all. But, the two do make up and are on good terms.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Averted. Patrick almost dies after trying to restrain Sissi from stopping Jérémie from cutting the school's electricity, but he gets better after a Return to the Past.
- Jerkass Ball:
- To be blunt, for the first third of the episode, Jérémie is very unpleasant, even before Patrick arrives. Focusing solely on his programming, he rejects a call from Odd to hang out with his friends, and Patrick's very presence just makes him act even more petulant, which Aelita calls him out on. His mood doesn't improve until the Superscan picks up a Replika, and he doesn't become repentant for his behavior until seeing Patrick sprawled on the floor after XANA!Sissi threw him out.
- Sissi's first reaction to learning that Jérémie has a family member that he has issues with? Immediately cozy up to him in order to cause trouble with the group, and later on, fully plan to get all of them expelled once she has Herve hack into Jérémie's computer. She likewise threatens to do the same to Patrick once he realizes she's bad news.
- Opportunistic Bastard: XANA's attack this time around carries shades of this. While him trying to impede the group's progress to his Replikas comes with the territory this season, he wouldn't have been able to cause nearly as much havoc had Sissi not have Herve snoop around Jérémie's computer, which had already crippled the Skidbladnir and rendered it vulnerable to the Kalamar.
- Put on a Bus: Combined with Status Quo Is God. At the end of the episode, Mr. Delmas tells Patrick that his parents decided not to enroll him at Kadic and would rather have their son attend a school closer to home.
- Pre Ass Kicking One Liner: Jeremie gives one to XANA!Sissi in the electrical room:Jeremie: Sweet talk won't get you anywhere, Sissi! (attacks with a rake)
- This Is a Drill: The Kalamar has a rather nasty one and uses it to drill into the windshield of the main Skid.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Aelita gives one to Jérémie about his poor attitude towards Patrick.
