Recap / Code Lyoko S 3 E 9

Go To

One morning, Jeremy notices that a man possessed by XANA has sabotaged the Supercomputer. It will be destroyed beyond repair if Jeremy doesn’t fix it, and fast! The youth makes tracks toward the computer lab… but is cornered by Jim, who reminds Jeremy that it happens to be the day for dorm inspection! Jeremy goes ashen: he has had absolutely no time or opportunity to clean his disaster zone of a room… and Jim refuses to let him go before it is taken care of! Aelita dashes to the factory in his stead to try and repair the Supercomputer, but XANA raises the stakes by activating a tower and sending an attack aimed at Yumi, Odd and Ulrich. Aelita finds herself confronted with a double mission: she must get to Lyoko to deactivate the tower and save her friends and repair the Supercomputer before it’s too late!

This episode contains examples of:

  • Catch-22 Dilemma: In order to fix the bugs the team are experiencing, Jeremie needs to restart the computer, but to do that he needs more energy, but one of the only ways to get more energy is to restart the computer. They are able to delete the Ice sector to get the energy needed to reboot and fix the issues, however.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Odd is still calling the monsters colorful names, and Ulrich is still annoyed by it.
    • The conversation between Odd, Ulrich and Aelita planning how they will devirtualize each other, with Odd getting confused and Ulrich stating that this always happens is a reference to a similar conversation Odd, Ulrich and Yumi had back in Vertigo, when trying to escape XANA-possessed wolves. Ulrich still dislikes Odd intentionally misunderstanding all this, and Aelita reciprocates the anger too.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: When Yumi is captured by X.A.N.A's possessed plants, several vines outright go up underneath Yumi's shirt and possibly groping her breasts, making the scene very eerily similar to Japanese hentai, due to the vines strongly resembling tentacles, keep in mind Yumi's 15. Implying X.A.N.A was possibly trying to rape Yumi during his assault on the gang.
  • Game-Breaking Bug: Caused by intentional tampering of a man being controlled by XANA tampering with the supercomputer memory.
  • Forced Friendly Fire: The Lyoko warriors have to do this to materialise back on earth when the computer is rebooted.
  • Gaia's Vengeance: XANA controls plant vines to stop Ulrich, Odd, and Yumi from getting to the factory. All but Yumi gets free, but does recover.
  • Gory Discretion Shot: Not that there's any gore to see, but the Total Party Kill is seen from leg height.
  • Green Thumb: In this episode XANA attempts to attack the Lyoko Warriors in the real world using vines to restrain and suffocate them.
  • Hackette: Aelita is tasked by Jeremie to fix the super computer in his absence, but can only do so much as they're requires to go to Lyoko to deactivate the tower.
  • Oh, Crap!: Jeremie when he realises his room is not cleaned up.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: The Lyoko Warriors are able to stop XANA's plan to destroy the supercomputer through sabotage, but in order to save it they have to delete the Ice sector, meaning that now there's only one surface sector left for the team to access Sector 5; The Mountain Region.
  • Race Against the Clock: Three hours to save the super computer from its tampered state, or it's bye-bye Lyoko!
  • Techno Babble: Jeremie in the cafeteria tries to explain how the super computer works when it comes to performance, but fails as nobody but Aelita understands him.
  • Total Party Kill: They have to kill each other to dematerialise out of Lyoko.
