Go To

With her godlike powers, Erzsebet Bathory conjures an eclipse, bringing eternal night to Europe and allowing the vampires of the region to run rampant! As the full breadth of her power is brought to bear, can Richter and our heroes hope to stop a dark goddess walking amongst them?!

  • Badass Boast: After killing Drolta, Alucard announces himself as the son of Dracula and tells the other vampires that if they fight him, they will die like thousands of other vampires before them.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Aside from losing the competent Drolta, the season ends with Erzsebet as the unambiguous victor. Her plan to bring about endless night goes off without a hitch, and Richter and co.'s attempts to fight the countess in her transformed state all end with her effortlessly swatting them like flies.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Drolta dive bombs Richter, about to impale him on her claws. We see a close-up shot of something long and sharp pirce through something dark, sending blood flying, and a look of shock on everyone's faces. Then Drolta is the one to cough up blood. We see a full shot of Alucard behind Drolta, his sword embedded in her throat.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Drolta chases the heroes into an open field with her minions. When she's seconds away from striking, Alucard suddenly one-shots her before she realizes he had even joined the fray.
  • Break the Haughty: Emmanuel had been steadfast in his belief that he had been doing the right thing in the name of God, even comparing himself to Judas as a necessary evil. However, while he is about to go through with it, he's clearly distraught that God hadn't sent a ram to stop him from sacrificing Maria, in reference to Abraham and Isaac. This is made worse by Erzsebet stating her intent to turn her into a vampire. Then large tears run down his face when Tara offers herself in Maria's place. Her sacrifice appears to be in vain as Drolta moves to go kill Maria anyway, something he realizes before she even leaves.
  • Deus ex Machina: The events of Castlevania (2017) had barely been mentioned by the reference of Sypha's union with Trevor, then Alucard shows up at the last minute to kill Drolta, with no real mention of him prior to this.
    • Subverted with Emmanuel, who was hoping for God to step in at the last minute to prevent him from killing his daughter but that didn't quite happen.
  • Don't Make Me Destroy You: Alucard introduces himself and makes it clear what will happen to Drolta's entourage if they fight him. They take his offer and book it out of there.
  • Fate Worse than Death: While he didn't like it, Emmanuel was on board with killing Maria, believing his dagger would send her to heaven. He's horrified to learn that Erzsebet intends to turn her into a vampire, rendering heaven forever out of reach for her.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Tara offers herself up in Maria's place. This appears to be a Senseless Sacrifice at first as Drolta goes to kill Maria anyway, but she dies at Alucard's hand before she can get to her.
  • Honor Before Reason: Olrox pulls Mizrak out of the battle when Erzsebet shows up, making it clear he will die if he keeps fighting. Mizrak chooses to return to the city anyway and help the heroes.
  • Horrifying the Horror: Drolta's last moments are with a look of abject terror on her face as she looks upon the son of Dracula.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Drolta seems to have been attempting this with Richter, only to find Alucard's sword through her throat before she can reach him.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em:
    • When Erzsebet shows up as a fully incarnate Sekhmet, Olrox grabs Mizrak and takes him out of the city, explaining he isn't powerful enough to take her down. Even the heroes are forced to flee.
    • After Alucard's Badass Boast, the nameless vampires take his advice and get out of there before they share the same fate as all the other nameless vampires who had faced him in the past.
  • Mook–Face Turn: While Annette has to fight her way through the Church's basement, two of the Night Creatures Edouard had been talking to suddenly attack the big one she was fighting, pinning him to the bars so she can finish him off. They then kill the one sent to stop Edouard from singing.
  • Mythology Gag: When Drolta dies, she shrivels up with graying skin, similar to her original portrayal in the games as the aging gray crone.
  • Nigh-Invulnerable: Erzsebet simply shrugs off everything the heroes throw at her while easily smacking them around the church.
  • Suicidal Overconfidence: Drolta seems to be pretty high on her own power, effortlessly dodging Annette's attacks while moving in for the kill. She leaves herself open to an attack from behind, apparently not noticing Alucard coming in the open field.
  • Single-Stroke Battle: We see Alucard's sword in Drolta's throat before we see the man himself.
  • "Ray of Hope" Ending: The attack on the Church failed, they were unable to return the machine to hell, the eclipse is blocking out the sun, and Tara is being turned into a vampire. Then Alucard shows up and one-shots Drolta.
  • The Worf Effect: Drolta was an even match for Richter even after he got his magic back, but is quickly killed to show just how powerful Alucard is.
