The one with a biblical themed cruise spaceship. Of DOOM!
The Doctor and Peri visit Paradise 5 in search of another of the Doctor's friends. Also notable for being written by PJ Hammond, better known for Sapphire and Steel and two Torchwood episodes.
Tropes
- Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence: ... to serve as disposable soldiers in a higher-dimensional war.
- Body Horror: We find out where the Cherubs come from.
- Call-Back: Peri gets annoyed that the Doctor wants to visit another of his friends, due to what happened last time.
- Colony Drop: The villains try to do this to Paradise 5 when they suspect the authorities have caught on.
- Depraved Homosexual: Michael and Gabriel, although the depraved part stems more from greed and sadism than orientation.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Gabriel calls Michael 'dear heart' a lot. Also they're selling people as soldiers to higher dimensional beings so they can fund their future lives together.
- Face Death with Dignity: After enacting this Colony Drop drill, Gabriel and Michael pour themselves a drink while waiting for the space station they're on to crash onto the desolate planet below.
- Fanservice: Peri's waitress outfit. And offscreen bikini in the aquarium.
- Gold and White Are Divine: To fit the heavenly theme of the station, the uniforms, fixtures and fittings are all done up in immaculate white with gold highlights. At least "front of house".
- Large Ham: The Doctor, as ever, in this one he creates a distraction using shouting and fireworks. Peri immediately realises he's the one behind it.
- Logic Bomb: Peri uses one to convince a computer to serve her food.
- The Unintelligible: The Cherubs.
