• Shout-Out: A rather surprising one in Part 4: Mr Winterbourne starts quoting "Monster" when he and The Doctor are searching inside the Paradise machine. The adapting author evidently took some lines from sources 20 years after it was supposed to have originally aired.
• What Could Have Been: Paradise 5 was originally named Paradise Five, was a part of Trial of a Time Lord arc and was intended to take the position held by Terror of the Vervoids as Melanie Bush's first televised story. When adapted into The Lost Stories, the part of Mel was refitted onto Peri in order to stay accordance to the rest of the series at the time. The part of Valeyard and the trial were both removed.
