The Doctor and Charley find themselves underground, in a mine on a planet that looks vaguely like Earth's moon. It's being targeted by the last survivors of the human race, whom have fled the Earth due to solar flares under the leadership of a corrupt man called Cobden.
People seem to die under his leadership if they don't follow his orders, but while trying to expose his evil actions something underneath the surface is slowly gaining activating, and a horrible fate lies in store for friend and foe alike.
- Ambiguous Robots: The Krotons are actually a species of mineral beings that can mimic other species, and they've fashioned themselves after specific human robots.

- Call-Back: The colony ships are escaping Earth's solar flares, and the Doctor references the Ark.

- While coming out of a coma, Charley laments the fate of C'Rizz.

- I Can't Hear You: The Doctor and Charley end up near a mining apparatus and obviously, can't hear each other.
