The Doctor arrives in 1918 where he meets Molly O'Sullivan in his House in Baker Street. He finds the Viyrans are again trying to stop a virus, this one sends people back in time. Finally he realises the Viyrans have started the virus, causing them to destroy themselves.

Tropes:

• Bound and Gagged: Happens to Molly off-screen when she is kidnapped. After she complains about this and Goring comments on her being gagged Zachary replies "Like the reason why isn't obvious."
• Cassandra Truth: Tommy doesn't believe this is the Doctor's house.
• Cursed with Awesome: Tommy is infected with Virus KX Variant 243 that starts making him fade away, and enables him to jump back in time, even reviving other people who were infected by the disease. However, this was activated by the chronon particles of the TARDIS and the disease is what is keeping them alive, meaning when the TARDIS disappears they will fade away.
• Dangerous Deserter: Subverted with Tommy, who claims to be a deserter but actually isn't.
• Deadly Doctor: Dr Herbert Goring.
• Doesn't Like Guns: The Doctor gets angry that a gun was brought back into the house.
• Morally Ambiguous Doctorate: Dr Herbert Goring, who is performing experiments with viruses.
• The Plague: KX Variant 243. An odd one that sends people back in time.
• Pulling Themselves Together: After a Viyran treads on a land mine it reforms. When the two Viyrans start fighting each other this keeps happening, but the Doctor says they'll destroy each other eventually.
• Shout-Out: The Doctor says he must speak for a minute without repetition, deviation or hesitation.
  • And just afterwards declares "Mornington Crescent!"
• Stable Time Loop: The Viyrans are infected by the virus in the future and transported back in time. Their remains are unearthed in the future by Viyrans and infect them, causing them to be sent back in time.
• The Starscream: Master Zachrey, who ends up shooting Goring dead so he can take his work to America.
• Voice Changeling: The Viyrans again.
• Well-Intentioned Extremist: The Viryans again, bringing a bomb that could wreck Southern England to prevent the virus spreading.
• You Just Told Me: Goring calls the Doctor by that name when he is claiming to be an inspector. The Doctor realizes this too late.
