The first episode of the fourth season of the Battle for Dream Island series, Battle for BFDI. Every contestant from the past seasons, including those that were previously trapped in the TLC and LOL (minus Nonexisty and Evil Leafy), alongside a few all new characters, are present. After Flower nearly causes the world to be sucked up by Black Hole due to wanting to open a jar of cyanide, Four and X arrive in Goiky, with the former saving everyone by crushing Black Hole to a smaller size. He then proposes a game in which the winner would receive "A BFDI", and afterwards, eight teams are formed.
The first challenge is to retrieve one of X's baskets and return it to him. iance loses the contest, and is subsequently up for elimination.
Tropes include:
- Art Shift: Starting from this episode, characters' faces and limbs are now hand-drawn and animated in a much simpler style, as opposed to previous seasons, where the faces and limbs were composed of assets.
- Break the Cutie: Poor Bubble gets demoted to "bember" when she refuses to use Lightning to zap people. Needless to say, she is not happy about this, and when Lightning zaps Fanny, Bubble breaks down in tears.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall:
- After accidentally naming her team "A Better Name Than That", Golf Ball looks up at the team's logo in shock.
- Fanny removes the phrase "the all" from her team's logo, turning it into "iance".
- Foreshadowing: The voting music is used outside of its context—in a scene with iance, who are up for elimination in this episode.
- Gilligan Cut:Fries: I'll throw you as high as I can and you'll try to grab the basket, okay?
Foldy: I'm a bit nervous about thaaaaaa- - Giver of Lame Names: Golf Ball, accidentally. After Death P.A.C.T. decide on their team name, Golf Ball tells her team that they need "a better name than that". Thus, her team ends up being named "A Better Name Than That".
- Heroic BSoD: Pen goes through a short one when his friends end up on separate teams from him.
- Insane Troll Logic: Lollipop, Eggy and Pillow interpret arm fluttering as a display of not caring, as "care spirit" flies out of their hands into the outer reaches of space to never be seen again. Barf Bag is the only one to recognize that Teardrop simply doesn't talk and as such can't vocalize her care.
- Kill It with Fire: Six of the eight Bleh members (Ice Cube, Lollipop, Teardrop, Book, Gaty, and Taco) all burn to death at some point during their team's attempts to chase down the basket.
- Mouthscreen: The close-up of Pencil's mouth as she says "bember" in slow-motion.
- Non-Indicative Name: Team Ice Cube does not have Ice Cube on it, and is only named that way due to Bracelety's admiration for her.
- Remember the New Guy?: Four new characters (Foldy, Stapy, Liy, and Loser) that hardly showed their faces in the previous seasons are introduced in this season. The former three originate from a noncanon joke video intended to trick the viewers into thinking the BFDI finale was out, and the latter is based on a pile of cubes shown in BFDI 7, used to represent the losing team.
- Rhymes on a Dime: When Foldy and Stapy play Rock–Paper–Scissors:Stapy: What's wrong with a little RPS so we can stress less? We'll guess who's best and bless the rest!
Fries: Stapy! Now's not the time for rhyming! - Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When Liy tells Tree her plan to get Teardrop to talk, Tree refuses and walks off.
- Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: During the challenge, iance's strategy is to jump repeatedly in order to reach a basket. Unlike most instances where cartoon physics come into play, this doesn’t work, and they end up losing the challenge.
- Twisted Echo Cut: Done by Snowball and Firey during the team making scene.Snowball: No, no way. There is no way I’m gonna be on this team of weak, armless-
Firey: Loser, do you want to join our team? I got all my pals along. - The Unpronounceable: When Four asked Bleh what their team name was, all the members thought he was asking for their individual names and answered accordingly. This was the result.
