Main Plot: Batman has been helping Superman in Metropolis, but the latter has gone nuts after being exposed to Red Kryptonite given to Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen (courtesy of Lex Luthor).
Can Batman and Krypto stop the Man of Steel before his reputation is ruined?
- Adaptation Deviation: In the original comic, Batman and Robin wore mummy bandages after they turned green from an incident with a space artifact and didn't want anyone to be suspscious of their real identities. Here, Batman and Robin wear them to immune to King Tut's attacks, since they're laced with a substance (buttermilk) that makes them immune to his staff.
- And the Adventure Continues: The episode ends with the World's Finest off on another rescue.
- Body Double: The Lex Luthor arrested in the first few minutes is a fake, which is how Luthor was able to conceive his plan.
- Broken Pedestal: Superman's allies quickly lose faith in him after his personality changes. In particular, Jimmy is seen taking down his Superman posters.
- Complaining About Rescues They Don't Like: Lois escapes Lex Luthor and while falling cries out for Superman. She opens her eyes to see Batman has caught her while Superman is fighting Luthor. She doesn't outright say it, so much as how she says it.Lois: Oh Batman... Gee thanks...
- Didn't Think This Through: Jimmy tries to fake dying to get Superman to reveal his secret identity to him, not accounting that his hero's X-Ray vision would've allowed him to see through the lie.
- Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Superman is temporarily affected by Red Kryptonite, leading to some very serious instances of Superdickery. Though perfectly willing to let Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen fall to their deaths, he goes into a Tranquil Fury when Batman asks "What would Ma Kent think?"
- Evil-Detecting Dog: Krypto keeps growling in Superman's presence.
- Heroes Love Dogs: Batman takes in Krypto, during Superman's jerkass behavior.
- Hope Spot: It looks like Batman invoking Ma Kent will cause Superman to snap out of it, but it pisses him off enough to try to crush Batman's skull. Good thing Superman returned to normal before it was too late.
- "Knock Knock" Joke: Superman is able to trick Mister Mxyzptlk into saying "Klptzyxm" by framing it as one of these jokes.
- Last-Second Word Swap: "Superman's turned into a real di-" "-fferent person!"
- Mythology Gag: This episode is pretty much a homage to Silver Age Superman and the many covers it produced.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Superman after being subjected to Red Kryptonite.
