"OPEN YOUR EYES."
Like Vs Sonic.exe before it, RERUN still doesn't hold back in a new aim to give people sleepless nights.
  • The trailer for the full mod is nothing short of unsettling, housing quite the mix of both nightmare fuel and every character involved in the mod itself. In-between these previews, we get lovely shots of Sonic.exe's body changing and contorting, all accompanied with the distorted screams of "My Heaven".
  • "Too Slow" (and its alternate version "Hide & Seek") starts out much differently to normal, with Sonic.exe and Boyfriend under spotlights to a rather uneasy tune reminiscent of the "Hill Act 1" theme. As if that wasn't creepy enough, towards the end of the opening, an Aspect Montage is shown of the demon killing his victims and assimilating their souls.
    • Right after that, we see Angel Island in its fiery glory once more, with the corpses of the main three looking even MORE gruesome than you once knew it. No censored eyes on Tails's head; just empty and broken eye sockets, with a missing jaw to boot. Knuckles's torso is present instead of solely his arm, and part of Robotnik's brain is exposed.
  • "Enterprise", as upbeat as it may be, still gives off an air of eeriness. Boyfriend is now depicted to be in what looks like a cave with Majin and a bunch of Mazins. And as goofy as they look in their poses, they still pass for Uncanny Valley. It doesn't help that Boyfriend is practically surrounded by them (granted, only two of them sing with Majin, but still...), and heaven knows what they'd do to Boyfriend if he doesn't give Majin the good show he's looking for, if anything.
  • "Torment", being a new change from "Cycles", still isn't afraid to lean into the Eldritch Location side of things, showing that not even the Death Egg is safe from being turned into a haven for Lord X. The floors and walls become filled with sticky blood, and the walls suddenly grow eyes and jaws. And by the end of the song, the Death Egg is warped away, most likely with Boyfriend on it, so we may never know what happened to him here.
  • "Top-Loader" is strife full of Ominous Visual Glitches with Sonic.NES, and as the song goes on, we hear news reports depicting the murders of several people, all of which were children. And worse, the killer himself, John Walter, is a Karma Houdini due to having had his debt collected by "the one who watches", granting him a place in a bootleg NES copy of Sonic the Hedgehog as what he believes to be "eternal salvation" for avoiding his punishments and getting away with his murders.
    • Speaking of this "the one that watches", who even are they? And what (if anything) did they do to assist John Walter in his twisted killings?
    • The files in the leaked build even have pretty gruesome images depicting the corpses of the victims too. And if they're indeed gonna get added into the mod proper on its final release, it's going to be one heck of a scare for unsuspecting players.
    • The description of each of the victims' deaths is nothing pretty, either, originally described by a Synthetic Voice Actor, but eventually being done by a proper news reporter. These are mentioned in the quotes sub-page.
    • As for Eggman.NES, he's only seen as a disembodied head in-game (likely to be in a Perspective Flip scene), he lacks eyes, and his jaw rips in his down pose.
      • Not to mention his ears resemble actual human ears! Could this be representing the victims, or something much worse?
  • "Sonic Kills You And You Die" depicts Sonic.exe as genuinely unsettling in pure darkness, making use of Narm Charm to the fullest to expand on the original Photoshopped image. We can only see darkened traces of his body details and his glowing red eyes in the darkness of a cold and empty forest, which gives him a really frightening vibe.
  • "Time Attack" hits home why An Ordinary Sonic ROM Hack isn't truly so ordinary... It does start pretty simple with Sonic singing alone, but hitting the monitors shows a jarring Perspective Flip to Sonic.exe's domain, and as long as he's on-screen, even hitting notes can land you in trouble unless you switch back to normal Green Hill.
  • "Third Party" demonstrates that, while Anti-Piracy Sonic isn't some Eldritch Abomination (compared to an older design), he's still pretty frightening and unnerving as an anti-piracy program, something that even unnerves Boyfriend.
  • "Last Chance" likes to hit this home as well, the area screaming Eldritch Location right from the get-go. Zalgo himself, even with the generic EXE traits in play, twists it up quite a notch with black tentacles coming out of his face and massive One-Winged Angel appearances that dwarf both Sonic and Tails.
    • The midway part of the song has us get a lovely look at Zalgo close up, who is absolutely unnerving in all his poses, with motion blur applied for added effect.
    • His One-Winged Angel form while possessing Sonic has actually been confirmed to resemble the commonly-depicted representation of Zalgo himself, giving him that little extra horror.
  • Hyper-Accurate, being one of the mod's Original Generation characters, may be an angel, but he's far from graceful. He has a twisted baritone throughout his song, "Sinful Prayer", and a single eye that makes up his face.
    • If that doesn't turn you off, the preview image for "Sinful Prayer" sure is one to behold, with Hyper-Accurate being depicted with a much more realistic eye to normal, and Boyfriend seeming to "bless" him while some kind of black liquid is pooling from his mouth.
