  • The first trap in the film, the Death Mask, comprised chiefly of an iron maiden-like mask with spikes inside it. The victim must retrieve the key by cutting out one of his eyes, since the key is in his eye socket. When he can't bring himself to do it and gives up, the mask closes on his head and he falls to the floor with blood leaking out of the mask just before the title card appears.
  • The idea of the Nerve Gas House itself. The victims are told the doors will open in three hours, but they only have two hours to live thanks to the nerve agent. To survive, they have to find the antidotes hidden around the house, most of which are inside the traps. At first they're just coughing, but then they begin staggering and eventually coughing up blood, with said blood turning increasingly pinkish as time wears on, strongly implying that their internal tissues are starting to dissolve.
  • Obi's test. There's a structure with two antidotes for the nerve gas the characters have been exposed to. When he grabs the second one, the device closes and flames erupt on the inside, revealing it's a furnace. The characters on the outside are trying to get him out, but it's not working and he ends up burning to death. It gets worse when you see the gas valve inside the furnace. By this time, though, the flames are burning so hot that Obi can't bring himself to reach through them to turn the oven off. To cap it off? His body is blocking the glass window which he tried to use to escape from the furnace, so he can't even pass the antidotes out, nor can his companions get through his body to retrieve them themselves, so the vital medicines are destroyed and lost.
  • Amanda in the pit of needles (pictured). That is all. That trap is probably the only non-lethal one in the entire franchise, but it still gives people massive shivers. Probably because... well, it's a pit of used needles, with a time limit where the safe in the room containing an "antidote" would close permanently if she failed. The fact that Amanda has a history as a drug addict and the "Psycho" Strings that play during the scene add another level of disturbing. Naturally, this scene was nominated in the Scream Awards for "best mutilation scene" despite being one of the less bloody traps in the film.
    • Not to mention that in addition to the pain...They're used needles from countless addicts that are carrying God only knows what diseases, and those diseases are being potentially contracted by them being stuck in you. Ick.
  • The Glass Box Trap. Seriously. Sticking your hands into a glass box, only for them to get stuck. Then realizing the edges of the holes are razor blades, effectively slicing your wrists open. And the more you struggle, the more you cut yourself. Addison's screams don't really help either.
    • Even worse is the knowledge that it all could have been avoided. If you look closely at the trap, you'll notice that it's locked with a padlock that still has the key in it. All she had to do was walk around the trap and she could have easily gotten the antidote.
  • By the time Xavier goes nuts and starts collecting everyone's numbers, which are written on the backs of their necks, for the combination on the safe Amanda points out that he still needs to learn his own. She's not gonna tell him and there are no mirrors around for him to use. His solution? Cut off the skin on the back of his neck.
  • After being beaten to a pulp by Eric, John promises him that he will take him to Daniel, but only him and nobody else. Desperate, Eric agrees, resulting in him being lured away from the safety of his SWAT team to be kidnapped and locked up in the bathroom from the first film, with no one to help him, and no one to hear him scream.
