I need a way we can dream on.

Park Ji-min (born October 13, 1995), known professionally as Jimin, is a South Korean singer best known for being a member of the K-pop boy band BTS. Jimin made his solo debut in 2023 with Face, featuring the songs "Set Me Free Pt. 2" and "Like Crazy". The latter was the first song by a Korean soloist to top the Billboard Hot 100.

Non-album single "Closer Than This" was released in December 2023, shortly after Jimin enlisted in the military alongside the rest of the BTS members.

I'd rather be lost in the tropes:

  • Alone in a Crowd: The "Like Crazy" video has some shots of Jimin having some distance from the people around him in the club while they are out of focus.
  • Auto-Tune: The robot vocals are used for artistic effect in "Set Me Free Pt. 2".
  • Bathroom Stall of Angst: Jimin angsts at the club restroom sinks during the second verse in the "Like Crazy" video.
  • Bottle Episode: The "Set Me Free Pt. 2" video is entirely in a single room.
  • Crowd Surfing: Jimin is briefly seen crowd surfing in the club in the "Like Crazy" video.
  • Darker and Edgier: Face and j-hope's Jack in the Box are the darkest of the BTS members' solo albums. Influenced by the COVID-19 Pandemic, Face has themes of loneliness/isolation, inner conflict, and finding personal freedom.
  • Friendship Song: "Closer Than This" is for his fellow BTS members who are on hiatus due to their military service.
  • Hidden Track: The physical version of Face has "Letter", featuring backing vocals from fellow BTS member Jungkook, starting after about 2:45 of silence at the end of the English version of "Like Crazy".
  • Human Notepad: The latter half of the "Set Me Free Pt.2" MV has Jimin's whole torso and neck covered in a German poem writing.
  • In Da Club: The nightclub is the main setting of the "Like Crazy" video.
  • Instrumentals: The ambient/sound collage "Interlude: Dive"
  • Minimalistic Cover Art: Face resembles a silver container with imprints of circles and the title.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: The "Like Crazy" video is a "nothing at all" variant set mainly in a dimly lit club, featuring a mysterious black tar and some creepy flickering lights. There is nothing resembling an antagonist, just Jimin feeling a sense of emptiness when he is alone and possibly undergoing a Sanity Slippage.
  • Ominous Obsidian Ooze: Creepy black tar appears in some scenes in the "Like Crazy" video, though it it doesn't do anything on screen and Jimin might just be imagining it. It suddenly appears on Jimin's kitchenette floor and is later seen running down a hallway's walls. The video ends with Jimin having some of it on his hand and smudging the camera with it.
  • Performance Video: "Set Me Free Pt. 2" has little more than Jimin being surrounded by backup dancers.
  • Sequel Number Snarl: "Set Me Free Pt. 2" doesn't have a part one.
  • Solo Side Project: Jimin is officially still a member of BTS, even though the group is currently on hiatus due to military commitments. Face was released near the start of the hiatus.
  • Stepford Smiler: Implied in the "Like Crazy" video when Jimin parties in the club but angsts when he is alone in the bathroom.
  • The Walls Are Closing In: Inverted in the "Like Crazy" video when the walls in the club's bathroom move further apart, exposing a void surrounding Jimin before returning to their place.
