Daphne and Velma is a Scooby-Doo young adult book trilogy by Josephine Ruby and Morgan Baden.

Daphne Blake and Velma Dinkley used to be friends, until splitting up in middle school. Since then, they've looked the other way whenever they meet. But when Daphne's best friend Marcy disappears, the two come back together to solve the case.

The series consists of:

  • The Vanishing Girl (2020)
  • The Dark Deception (2020)
  • Buried Secrets (2022)

Tropes in this series include:

  • Adaptation Name Change:
    • Since he and Elizabeth are divorced and he was supposed to have taken on her surname of Blake when they got married, George's name is George Baker.
    • Marcy's name is Marcy Heller, as her surname wasn't given back in What's New, Scooby-Doo?.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • Daphne's parents are divorced. Additionally, she only has her sisters (who are her half/step-sisters here instead) Daisy and Dawn, who are also twins here as well.
  • Age Lift: Daisy and Dawn are now five-year-old twins instead of Daphne's older adult sisters.
  • Alternate Continuity: The series takes place in an alternate continuity and makes use of various elements from throughout the franchise, including:
    • The Curse of Crystal Cove from Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated. Additionally, it is said in Crystal Cove's past that its settlers suddenly disappeared and was believed to have been caused by the curse, just like in the show.
    • Daphne has her sisters Daisy and Dawn, while Velma has her mother Angie, all from Mystery Incorporated.
    • Daphne's parents are George and Elizabeth, her parents from the original shows.
    • Likewise, Shaggy's mother is a policeman, referencing how it was his father who was a policeman in the original shows.
    • Shaggy's past relatives and ancestors looked very similar to him, referencing how his parents looked like him in the original shows.
    • Daphne has an interest in journalism (originating from Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island) and considered taking up an internship at the Crystal Cove Howler (referencing her work in Zombie Island being retconned as an internship by the sequel).
  • Ambiguously Related: Milford Jones and Fred Jones share the same surname, although it's not indicated how they're related. The second book later clarifies that they're uncle and nephew.
  • Unrelated in the Adaptation: Marcy and Velma were cousins in What's New Scooby-Doo? Here, there's no relation between them.
