Heartwarming / The Adventures of Spirou and Fantasio

Go To

  • In the first half of the story, everyone acts as more or less more jerkass than in the source material. But on the other hand, everybody mellows down by the second act on, precisely from the car accident in the desert. Fantasio stayed stuck in the about to explode vehicle, due to his tightened security belt. Spirou proceeds to cut it with a shard of glass, and Fantasio orders him to run away if he doesn't want to die too. But Spirou refuses, ensuring that he won't let his friends down. A few scenes before, Fantasio told the same, as Spirou walked away, and the latter snarked he did not know they were friends. In addition to the Meaningful Echo, the scene look even more sweet, given that for the first time in the movie, Spirou cares for someone else than himself.

  • This scene marks also the time when Seccotine and Fantasio drop the "belligerent" part in their Belligerent Sexual Tension. When she sees him in a death threat, Seccotine utterly panics and tries to rescue Fantasio as well, despite she answered an infuriated "Certainly not!" to the question if he was her boyfriend, the scene before. When Fantasio is finally saved, Seccotine, relieved, throws herself in his arms, admitting she was scared to death.

  • After the Crossing the Desert scene that ensues, the group is resting in an oasis. Spirou describes Fantasio 's glance at Seccotine as the one of "a man in love". For the first time, Fantasio doesn't deny, and obviously, it is just shyness that makes him stay distant for now. When apparently, Seccotine put one over on them by selling them to the enemy, everything seems lost. But actually, she played Fake Defector in order to do The Infiltration. She kept it a secret due to Fantasio's habit to not believe her. The latter apologized by recognizing he was stupid. Yet, this word tends to sound like an affectionate nickname in their subsequent conversation.

  • Spirou tends to play the effective Shipper on Deck for them from the accident scene on, and he apparently has no reason for that, other than finding them cute, and wanting to help his new friend. Apart from saving Fantasio's life, it's the first time that Spirou acts despite there is nothing to gain from it. Yet, at this moment, he met Fantasio and Seccotine less than 48 hours ago.

  • Spirou goes as far as putting Fantasio and Seccotine in lip lock position, when frozen by the zorglwaves. When they are put back in motion, Fantasio has at first the "It wasn't me"! reaction. But Seccotine quickly shushes him with a Finger Muzzle, then a "Shut Up" Kiss (the first ever for him, by the way, with the tie-in comics that came out simultaneously). He is at first catatonic with surprise, but rapidly reciprocates the kiss. In the very last scene, they maybe had a Relationship Upgrade, as they're shown close enough to Finishing Each Other's Sentences.
