Trivia / The Adventures of Spirou and Fantasio

• Box Office Bomb: With 237 000 tickets sold in France, the movie made it even worse than the adaptation of Le Petit Spirou, which bombed and still made the double in performance.
• Fake Nationality: If you consider that the main characters are Belgians, like in the medium they originated from. Here, they are all played by French actors.
• Stillborn Franchise: The allusions to Zantafio suggests he should have been the Big Bad of an eventual sequel (or maybe a Big Bad Ensemble with Zorglub, as the latter is shown to be still alive in The Stinger) . Plus the ending scene in the form of And the Adventure Continues was an obvious Sequel Hook. But none had been announced. Granted, the movie underperformed at the box office and got a dismal 1,7 out of 5 grade on Allociné (a French equivalent to Rotten Tomatoes). In addition to this, the form of an Origins Episode was at the cost of the usual dynamics of the ensemble cast, leaving an impression of an inbuilt universe.
