• It's both this and an Awesome Moment that he got his Star-Making Role - Dick Winters - despite being incredibly hungover. After being flown out to Los Angeles to read with Tom Hanks, Damian decided to celebrate with a massive drinking spree. At 8:00 the next day he was woken by a call from the casting agent saying "Steven will see you at ten". Once Damian realised she meant Steven Spielberg, he claims he had about three showers and eighteen cups of coffee to try and sober up.
• Although he had to method act to be a leader to the Band of Brothers cast, he wasn't immune from his occasional Not So Above It All moments. In the boot camp preparation, he had just been promoted to Captain and was to lead the men on a secret mission. He gave a lecture on proper gun safety - which was interrupted by "an almighty bang". Of course it turned out to be his weapon. He then tried to cover up by saying "as I've just demonstrated for you..."
  • Even better was Capt. Dale Dye coming over to angrily find out who discharged their weapon. Damian jokes that he was hoping one of the others would take the fall for him.
    "Every night for ten years, I've woken up thinking 'why did no one [take the fall]?'"
• His appearance on The Graham Norton Show had him geeking out shamelessly that he'd been invited for dinner at the White House because Barack Obama was a huge fan of Homeland. The invitation apparently just came in the post.
  • A rather drunk Gérard Depardieu referred to him as 'William'. Damian keeps a straight face and tells Graham to "just go with it."
  • And carrying on from Gerard's infamous pissing on a plane, Damian happily volunteered an accidental urination story of his own. He woke up one morning with a vivid dream of making a wrong turn in his house and pissing in the street. He checked outside and sure enough...
    "A few of the cobblestones were just a slightly darker colour than the rest."
• As Barack Obama was a huge fan of Homeland, the cast signed a boxset for him. Claire Danes wrote a lovely message, while Damian wrote "From one Muslim to another" - and spent the next two days praying that "he understands Irony."
• During the White House Correspondant's Dinner, he claims he and wife Helen McCrory spent "about an hour" taking selfies in the White House bathrooms.
• Considering he plays many, many American characters, it's understandable that people assume he's American. Apparently he's been told his accent is dodgy, and according to his wife, he's not allowed to use the American at home after some incidents with their children.
